Members buddhapaugh
i completely respect your opinion, but can you relay the ripoffs? Your right about him not being blues though, continuum proved he's folk, R&B, soul, blues, pop, and rock.Just one obvious example. Members Proteins
I don't find anything wrong with those answers. Maybe saying the n word. Other than that, I love the guy. He's a great player, writer, and intellectual / philosophical human being.
Members mistersully
Apparently there are a LOT of fellow idiots here who get him. Either that or this all just evidence of an excpetional degree of Bromance going on. can i just enjoy his guitar playing and not give a {censored} about all the other stuff?... is that ok with you? Members paulisme
Why is this thread so long? EG It would be shorter if you hadn't posted this.
Members soliloquy
i was reading up on that. he was comparing aniston to jessica simpson saying that aniston is a technophobe and he really wants someone his age as shes like a mom to him. and then simpson about how big of a dynamite she is and she is his crack cocaine in terms of sex. Members mistersully
If he could keep his mouth shut, and just play the guitar, he'd be okay. He just seems like an idiot outside of his music. So much so, that I cannot even listen to him sing...how's his hair?
Members mutant_guitar
I wouldn't want to drink with him because he would do all the talking. I am not sure why more people don't get how "self-absorbed" and "into himself" he is. That doesn't make a good friend or lover, does it?? Members buddhapaugh
I would consider the constant need to be in the center of a rapt public audience a disorder. There are other entertainers who do not exhibit this need. John Mayer clearly does. I bet he's thinking right now about something funny, quirky, odd, or peculiar to twit about. I'd also be willing to bet he will "see the light" at some point (perhaps when he falls madly in love with a woman and she ask that he examine his compulsion to be so public about everything), and take a vow of relative silence compared to his current state of sharing every damn thought that crosses his mind. Meh I love John Mayer's music and his guitar playing. It's phenomenal. I find it funny how you talk about him "ripping off" other artists like SRV, for instance. Everyone musician learns {censored} from other musicians, where the hell do you think music comes from? When YOU invent a new type of music that doesn't sound like {censored}, get back to me and I'll be glad to hear it. I also didn't realize that a musician's job was to keep out of the public eye and not do interviews, but just to release studio albums and play concerts where he doesn't interact with the audience. You have to admit the guy is pretty funny, and if you are taking the things he says seriously, then I think you're either a dumbass or have too much sand in your vagina. Members lowbrow
His pop and blues are not my cup of tea, but there's no arguing he has talent. As for his persona, it seems to me like he knows exactly what he's doing. Hard to argue with his success.

Members Virgman
Mayer is not afraid to make fun of himself. I think he's ok. Go Johnny! JM was just expressing his lust for Jessica S. and love for the black peoples.

Members V-Type
I believe John Mayer just may be doing a little dope sometimes. His above statement and others of late lead me too think he is definately doing some type of herbal. He's a really good player but a really arrogant douche bag at times also. Members humbuckerstrat
It's cool..I have black friends who have David Duke Dicks also. You know Tiger Woods?:poke:Pretty much what John Mayer said went over my head, I guess you have to be high to understand it.But I'm sure he's going to have some splainin' to do. Like Harry Reid and his "Light-skinned Negro" and "doesn't speak with a Negro dialect (unless he wants to)" Obama references. These are very politically correct times, and it's only a matter of time until your favorite celeb will feel that they put their foot in their mouth. But like Obama said about Harry Reid, I think John Mayer is on the "right side of history," despite his current foot-in-mouth syndrome.Actions speak louder than words, imho.
