1. Americians worry about the stupidest {censored}. Serousily don't people have anything better to do then whine about what some celebrity says. America has a big hard on about anything to do with celebrities you can't escape this crap even on a guitar forum.
2. This is a great concert DVD if you what to see the man play...
3. Who gives a {censored}... this a guitar forum, some of the posters sound like a bunch of gossiping teenage girls. Rock musicians are known to say stupid {censored} get over it.
4. X is a great band... Billy Zoom gives the band that extra punch that cuts through those X harmonies.
5. There is nothing okay about scamming a naive older person, anyone who does deserves a nice kick in the nuts.
6. I'm amazed some people here would take advantage of an 80 year old man... well maybe not I've lived long enough to realize some people have no shame.
7. That new Green Day album is pretty complex and is an interesting album, whether it deserves a Grammy... does anything really deserve that stupid award.
8. Forgot to mention earlier that it's slightly possible to damage a Strat pickup (a Strat pickup with staggered-height poles) if you decide to reduce the height of a AlNiCo pole by filing too aggressively. You can reach the melting temperature instantaneously by filing aggressively. AlNiCo material starts to lose its magnetism as it approaches and exceeds its melting point. Actually, the aggressive use of a file mentioned above is a bit overblown. If you find yourself needing to reduce the height of a pole in Strat pickup, all you need to do is perform one stroke at a time with the file and you should easily be safe from damaging the pole magnet. Whatever you do, just don't use a bench grinder. PS: The most likely cause of the original poster's problem is a bad pickup selector switch. Thanks, all good information.
9. Yes. Rusting AlNiCo magnets can destroy Strat / Tele pickups by eventually causing a break in the magnet wire. Also, some magnets can become weak over time. Thanks I didn't know that, what about all those vintage pickups you see, are they rebuilt?
10. Can pickups even die? Replace a pot or switch.
11. Saw same show in Costa Mesa, felt bad for Coverdale, his voice is shot. One of the few true vocalist in rock. When he was in Deep Purple he showed he could hang with the best. JP is good, I can think of many rock bands that blow them out of the water, but no complaints, above average rock. Jorn Lande... 35 seconds in...
12. I like the newer stuff especially "Angel of Retribution" and I started listening to them in the during the Hell Bent For Leather, British Steel and Unleashed In The East albums.
