Moderators daddymack Posted April 16, 2017 Moderators Share Posted April 16, 2017 I am deeply saddened to hear this. I have seen him numerous times, always awe inspiring....plus he was a beer aficianado...truly a man of taste and style.

Members humbuckerstrat
I haven't heard very much by him but he was highly recommended by Frank Zappa and EVH. I checked out some videos on YouTube in which he appears and it's obvious he was an awesome player. RIP Mr. Holdsworth, I hardly knew ye.
Members catscurlyear
wow that is a shock, he comes from my home town ,lots of people round here knew him ,i once talked with him at one of his gigs and he was a real gentleman ,he influenced more guitarists than anyone will ever know with is unique style. Eddie Van Halen even stated that is why he did the two handed tapping ,because he was trying to sound like Alan Holdsworth . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_HfyUpsx1o

Members GAS Man
I had not heard that. That's sad. I actually became familiar with him by seeing his sig model in the Carvin catalogs years ago and then did some research about him from there. An innovative player fo sho. Dang, a mere
Members 1001gear
Progger friends introduced me to Holdsworth's playing in the 70s. Maintained a casual interest over the years and this news of his death started me on another phase of interest. Put Metal Fatigue on Transcribe as my latest slow down project. Old stars kicking off left and right but this one hit a little deeper. RIP
