Members acousticdepot
Will I burn in hell if I put light strings on my martin hd-35? Bob.
Members Stackabones
No, but you probably won't be able to be heard in the acoustic jam there.
Members Galabar
Will I burn in hell if I put light strings on my martin hd-35? Bob. Could you be more specific. Are you going to drill little holes in the top and stick the lights out like little stars?
Members Pine Apple Slim
Only if you take it to the bluegrass gig/jam. There it will be considered impotent.
Members gitnoob
Lights on a dread? Are you a man or a mouse?

Members gitnoob
He can't seriously be talking about putting lights on a dread. He must be thinking about wearing tights in bed. That would be OK.

Members katopp
if "lights" is .12,it's fine in my eyes. All my guitars, except the OM, have D'Addario EXP16 on them. My OM even gets 0.10'sI'm fine and I GET heard.

Members Christhee68
I've seen lights on a Les Paul, but never on a Martin.
Members Freeman Keller
I run lights (coated at that) on my 74 D-18. It has been played along side a 1939 D18 and a D18GE and held its own nicely. The term "cannon" is overused, but fits that old guitar nicely. btw - if you listened to the clips of the Great String Test, that was the guitar and those were all lights. (however, to your original question, most people who know me think I will burn in hell regardless of what gauge strings I use)
Members DeepEnd
I use lights (.012) on my dread and would probably use them whether I had a jumbo, parlor, etc. I figure the reduced tension will maximize the useful life of my instrument. Members kwakatak
TO each his own but I wouldn't recommend it. I tried EJ16s (lights) on my D-16GT and it just seemed to lack power and playing it seemed less joyful. YMMV.

Members LiFeStArTs@40
I'll see your lights on your dread and raise you to custom lights 11-52's. (that's what I use exclusively)

Members Fendouglas
I use 12's on all my guitars and I'm from the North-East of England, where wearing long sleeves in winter is considered to be a bit effeminate (even for the lasses!) Members WashburnGuy
TO each his own but I wouldn't recommend it. I tried EJ16s (lights) on my D-16GT and it just seemed to lack power and playing it seemed less joyful. YMMV. Same here! The tone and power disappeared from my D-16RGT with the EJ16's though they sound great on my Washburn.
