Members Cirrus
But for totally different reasons. Big muffs always sound wank to me, as I recently deigned to tell this forum, I just can't get them to work. Fuzz Faces, on the other hand... I was playing round with the one in my band's lockup last night and through the strat and a nice long cable it sounds AMAZING. Slap a bit of delay on there and play some lead work from Floyd's Echoes or DSOTM and THAT'S THE TONE! Love it. Try and do the same thing with my wireless system though, and it's squealing, shrill, doesn't clean up right... it's basically useless. And equally useless with my explorer - just mushy, indistinct noise. And it's huge, round, only takes batteries, and has no LED. I know it's an old design but all these reasons basically mean it'll never be useful on my live board, which is a shame because I do love the sound when it's set up right. Members Aaron SS
Buy a clone, ditch the wireless, and rock the strat.
Members Cirrus
I'll defo have this one to hand for recording. I don't know if I could ditch the wireless though. It's not even so I can go run around in the crowd, it's just... so liberating. And reduces the chance of fatal electric shocks in some of the shocking venues we've graced. But yeah. Cranked up both knobs, into the AC50 + 4x12 set loud and clean, closed my eyes and pretended I was in Pompeii.
Members CicadaSilence
Hm... I've never gotten along with Big Muffs either. I don't know why I've never tried a Fuzz Face, or derivative thereof. Off to google I go.
Members *PiP*
There are plenty of fuzz face clones out there which are small, convenient and sound just as good if not better than some of those vintage models. Ever tried an analogman sunface? I would start with that.

Members Pewtershmit
Also this. I would say this is my favourite FF I wouldn't say its my "favorite", but it is by far the most consistent, dialable and wireless/buffer friendly fuzzfacy out there. Members macadood
yea man. lunar module that {censored} up! or just rehouse your FF with an LED and true bypass and into a nice small enclosure what are those things like inside?? is this even possible? or just have Aaron make you a top of the line clone
Members Beef
Yeah Lunar Module's sweet. This guy's pretty popular, relatively cheap, and has a buffer to play friendly anywhere in the chain. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/mxr-m-173-classic-108-fuzz-guitar-effects-pedal

Members wartoxin
or just rehouse your FF with an LED and true bypass and into a nice small enclosure what are those things like inside?? is this even possible? Actually I think he is right, a 9 volt adapter plug can be added, an led can be added, true bypass (might need a new switch for the LED even if it is already TB). I don't know about the negative ground factor some people talk about though, watch out for that with an adaptor.
Members surferbeto
Bajatech Das Fuzz Si been very very good to me. Nice fuzzface clone, small footprint , still no LED (but that just makes the battery last much longer).

Members english_bob
I lub my FF (FoxRox Fat Fuzz card for ZIM). Not necessarily a sound you could use as your main dirt (depending on the band...), but that sound is awesome. Would a suitable buffer fix the issue with the wireless? TGP would know... :poke:
Members jorhay1
Fuzz Faces are super finicky. No way your going to get a OG FF circuit to play nice with a Wireless. They need to be first in the chain, Amp has to be cranked, vol on guitar has to be backed own a bit, and they like strats. Members Chugs
You can mod a Fuzz Face to work with buffered pedals and wireless/switching systems etc. I do it whenever I make a Fuzz Face type pedal. Sounds great and works with buffers. Wining as Mr. Sheen would say.
