The size of the guitar body and neck...........etc
mrbrown49 replied to Dan Furr55's topic in Electric Guitars
Put 3 guitarists in a room and ask these questions and you'll get 4 different opinions. It's so personal. I myself find strats to be the most comfortable. -
How many of Ye Olde HCEG Gang are still here?

You can say that again. Seriously. Say that again. We could use the traffic. -

NGD!! New old stock Yamaha Pacifica 821DX!!
mrbrown49 replied to Knight Templar's topic in Electric Guitars
They strings only need to sit in the slot about half way. They look ok from the pic. Don't want to go too low or you'll have more problems. Check the nut action. Hold the strings down just in front of the second fret. The strings should just clear the first fret. -
That finish looks like a polyester or polyurethane finish. No solvent, including naphtha, will get that stuff to reflow and close cracks. If it was nitro you'd have a prayer of fixing cracks and gaps because it reflows easily with sovent, or application of more finish. But, that doesn't look like nitro. I wouldn't worry about it anyway. It looks to be in great shape other wise. If you can't find original electronics one of these may do. https://www.guitarfetish.com/Active-Preamps_c_51.html

Congrats! Fwiw, naptha won't fix cracks in the finish.

Still here. Good to have you back. -
Pictures, or they are both hello kitty strats named Steve.

Its all preference. If you dig into it you'll see lots of different hand positions, slide shapes, and slides on different fingers. Some like it on their first finger, some middle etc. I suck at slide, but, I personally like it on my ring finger.

Start your own thread and post pics and model number if you want any meaningful responses.

What's wrong with Gibson Studio and Fender HWY1?
mrbrown49 replied to dimibetan's topic in Electric Guitars
They're both great. I much prefer the studios with the glossy finishes and hotter pickups. They're still available new, but they cost about $400 too much, and good used ones are common as dirt. The "standard" studio's are a great buy used. I see them every now and then in the 600 range. -

Hmm, my winered Studio is definitely not flat top He's probably thinking of the faded studios which are an entirely different animal. Anyway, what's wrong with them you ask? Trolls don't like them.
