  1. I don't know who does it and who doesn't, but its really easy now to manipulate waveforms, by punching in, nudging in time, and altering individual notes. I think everyone does that to some extent, to fix the slightly off snare hit, flubbed guitar note or vocal phrases. And for the record, I wouldn't really call it cheating either. It's just another tool. That said, I can't stand the sound of autotune stuff.
  2. Nope. It's good to run two drives, and music stuff can get really big, really fast. Just make sure you get a quiet one if your PC is in your tracking room, some of the large drives can be noisy. I have both a western digital and a seagate that are pretty quiet.
  3. I am pretty sure I covered how I hung mine. It only puts 2 holes in the wall and they are small. Check that thread again, if they are not there (pics of them being hung) I will repost. Yup. Just think of it as a large picture frame.
  4. If only all of us could realise that it's the only real vote we have left.. sad but true.
  5. Now you can buy Vista with a dual core with 2 gig of RAM and get the same performance as XP with a P4 and 512 of RAM? Yay.... IMHO I would rather have a solid OS with a small footprint and minimal bells and whistles and save the extra horsepower for my apps. Done venting... Thats the problem right there. Vista seems to be designed for casual computer users that really only use it for email, word processing and surfing the net. In that regard it probably works just fine. Most people I know need to customize their hardware and software environments to very specific needs, and that's where things get a little hairy with Vista.
  6. ^^ XP is still sold, and you can buy an OEM version for about $90. If you ever have a problem with licesnsing it when installing it again or on another PC, you just call the number it tells you too and they authorize it (never heard from anyone who they didn't authorize it for). You just tell them your reinstalling XP. It's cheaper than the retail version which goes for about $190 still. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116056 Thats a pretty good deal. Thanks for the heads up. I will run my XP machine as long as I can.
  7. Was it the Hodad or a different model that came with the dual lipstick HBs? I guess my thoughts are that if you go out and buy a Dano, why not let it be a Dano? +1 Let danos be danos
  8. Get a silver face champ and some pedals.
  9. Maple is a bit heavy for a whole body, but for sustain I like mahogony bodys with maple caps.
  10. Thanks Zoey for the info. Its not really an attenuator. Think of it as a master volume. It will allow you to drive your tubes harder if you don't have a master volume already.
  11. I got an omnisonic and ran it through the effects loop, works great and only cost me about $25. Worked great for my 5150! That is essentially like putting a master volume in an amp. Can work great for amps that don't have master volumes built in already. These guys get great reviews, but are some of the more pricey models. http://www.tedweber.com/atten.htm
  12. I personally don't like attenuators. I like to have a speaker really push some air when I record, and attenuators take away from that somewhat. I think you would be better putting the money you would spend on a decent attenuator, and they aren't cheap, towards a decent low watt tube amp.
  13. Now that you say that, I did recently move my room around. I had all of my equipment in a different spot, and when I had the stuff in the old spot, it never did that. In fact it only did this AFTER I moved everything. Hmm thank you for that, that could be it. I'll try different outlets too. I've been using a lot of extension cords, so that may have to do with it. I have a similar problem in my building. Its a 100 something year old house, with really bad wiring and a terrible ground. Do the best you can, but you may need a voltage regulator to smooth out some of the noise.
  14. I have yet to find a good substitute for a tube amp. A small 15 watter will be plenty loud and give you another tool to get closer to the sound you want. Digital effects can be great, but tend to lack to dynamic response and character of a nice amp.
  15. Originally posted by gsHarmony The cheapest I can find is $300. I know someone interested in the firebox, so if you know of a place selling it for $250, please let me know. saw them for about 250 on ebay this morning.
  16. As mentioned before, they are also stackable. I think you can add up to 3 units. So its also expandable. To me this is a big plus with the delta series. The only drawback is the need for an external pre for every channel you want to run a mic too.

Listening to music that you like on quality studio monitors is a very good idea, that way you can understand what things are supposed to sound like as opposed to what recordings sound like when played back on common low quality consumer speakers. Listening to well recorded music on your monitors allows you to learn your monitors. Do lots of this (at reasonable volumes) it's good for you and fun too. Very true. Its interesting to compare what you can't hear anymore, and what is boosted when taking things to a different system. When listening on monitors, there are still times I am listening to a pink floyd song, even though I have heard it a million times, and I hear a guitar part that I never noticed before. Tons of fun.
