I had that guitar in a burst figured finish. I LOVE surfy colors on strats, teles and offsets but those colors aren't really working for me on that body shape.

On a strat, those colors look retro and vintage and surfy and ready for the stage. On that big of a body, it looks like my six year old daughter was left in the room with my guitar and some paint.

This. Has something to do with more surface area - the Fenders have more pickguard and cutaways, so there's more to balance it out. This is "I look like the wall of a dentist's office, look at me!"
