  1. Here we go again! Lets see if we can top 200 posts! Who know that typing the word "Duesenburg" in a thread title would be such a hit! Well done sir, well done.
  2. Frets you will never be a normal poster as long as you are a moderator. You cannot take your hat on and off. People will not treat you the same as long as you are a moderator. You volunteered for the job so even if you don't get paid you still have the duties. I am not saying the duties have not been fulfilled. This is not an attack, but just a comment about your statement of taking on and off your moderator hat. Frets did nothing but have conversation about pickups. EG had a problem with a moderator having a different opinion then his, and he had a little melt down because of it. Frets responded by pointing out that Post-a-lots (EG) was being unreasonable. Then got attacked further for pointing that out. This thing has gotten so far OT, and pointless, that it would seem reasonable if it were to got locked down.
  3. Sorry frets, your "pointed jab" of a personal attack was just that. And pretty undignified for a moderator to do. Next time you're in a restaurant and the waiter gets personal with you because they disagree with your choices, I'll wager that you find the manager pretty quickly and complain. We can disagree all we want but the personal stuff is uncalled for...particularly from a moderator. EG All of your self-righteous indignation, and trying to boss Frets around, is absurd considering how you kicked off this thread. Get over it, you were being a jackass, it's water under the bridge.
  4. Dick? First in class a rude school, no doubt. I'm beginning to understand why all the good members left. EG You are a clown just trying to get your post count up, go away already.
  5. I did not dig the GFS pups that I had, fat paf and classic 59's, but I also think that they are capable of pulling off a good pickup. Those dreams get a lot of love, that makes me think that they are probably pretty good. And Jrock makes a very important point above. Intonation needs to be right on. Otherwise every chord you play will sound bad, painful even. This is my go to copy and paste blurb about setting intonation, Setting Intonation: Once the guitar is in tune, Fret the note at the 12th fret and compare that to the harmonic at the 12 (over the actual steal fret). They should read the same, if not, you get problems. (All on the 12th fret and 12th harmonic) If the fretted pitch is higher then the harmonic, the string needs to be made longer. You do this by tuning the screw on the saddle at the bridge. If the fretted pitch is lower then the harmonic, the string needs to be shortened/ move the saddle towards the neck.
  6. You know, all pickups are different. I would look to see what the Duesenbergs can do that your other pickups can't, versus looking at it the other way around. Like different tools for different jobs type thing. But, if you are looking to make it your #1 because of the way it feels or something, then I would get a set of pickups that are exactly tailord to what it is you are looking to do when you play. Pickups are not that expensive, especially for guys with $1500 guitars. The GFS pups might do it for you, one way to find out. But if they don't, you will then need to go out and spend the coin to get the pickups you should have bought in the first place, and they will cost more because you lost money on the GFS pups, ..been there. That said, pots and capacitor values can make a big difference on how pickups sound, if they are a little too dark or too bright. And switching between guitars you will sometimes have to make radical changes in your amp settings to get the goods. Anyway, just some ideas.
  7. I can agree with it all, except for that fact that I would have no problem sleeping with a hot black girl. http://s0.ilike.com/play#Porno+For+Pyros:Black+Girlfriend:53152:s1566282.10293481.14264385.0.2.45%2Cstd_b82c8fc2a00a4f85ab1673e2f3c81cc9
  8. Well, ..at least now I know to stay away from GoodBomb's ebay sales. .
  9. I don't see how paying someone very little for something worth a lot is a crime. If he held a gun to the guy's head and made him sell it I could see that but with the internet there is no reason to not know what something is worth. I wouldn't want that on my conscience but I have had people bid up ebay auctions I have run so high for junk that I have felt bad about it. At the end of the day the guy's post probably was made up anyway. Yes, but that is not what happened. The guy reported that he got the guitars for Free after telling the older guy that they were worth nothing. And this far removed form the original thread, all of this gets to be pretty absurd, but it was very clear to anyone who saw the original post that it was legit. The guy was looking to get some Ata-boys for scamming this guy, and his employer, out of these guitars. .
  10. If you bring a vintage instrument into a store and they give you a few hundred for it, you should know SOMETHING is up. I feel selling it for that price is your own fault. I've had some pretty stupid offers made to me on things I was selling, and those offering were surely hoping I myself would be stupid enough to say yes, and if I were, I'd have no one to blame but myself. I don't need to put words in your mouth. You have got more then Carter has got little liver pills. By saying that it was the old mans fault, you condoned this type of {censored}. Of course you can now change your augment, now that you got PWND on the last 5 pages. But this was your original post. No one is going to argue with you that there are scumbags out there that are going to take advantage of people, we all know that, ..of course, -but that was not your point. It was your blaming the old man, saying that it was no ones fault but his, that put you in everyones sights. Best to just quit digging your hole.
  11. How would you know if they're serious or not? What if I post "I just robbed a bank"? How do you know, and that's the important word, know what really happened? If anything? Go ahead and post that you have robbed your local bank. Give the name of the bank, and post photos of you with a load of cash in your hands. Then sit back and wait, ..the cops will be at your door in about and hour. You make it my business by posting it onto a public forum, end of story. And as to what I "know," or not, is irrelevant. That is for the owner of a company, or a cop to sort though. All I "know" is the information that you have provided.
  12. I'll say this: the ethics of the original transaction notwithstanding, anybody that called or contacted the guy's employer about this is a bigger douchebag by several orders of magnitude. None of this is the business of anyone here. You don't mess with someone's employment. So if someone comes on here talking up a crime that they committed, then we are suppose to turn a blind eye to it? {censored} THAT!
  13. It's common sense, man. and by "common sense" I have to assume that you mean, crass, backwards and full of BS. :poke:
