All we know about deities is that we don't know whether they exist or not.

- Believing that they don't exist does take a little leap of
faith
.

- Believing some deity(-ies) exist, without being any more specific takes a similar leap of
faith
, but in the opposite direction.

- Believing in a specific deity, claiming to know what He wants/does not want to be called, how/when He created the universe and us and the history of His doings, to know how He wants us to live and behave, how He wants to be worshipped, what He'll do of us after we die, etc. takes a MUCH larger leap of faith.

If atheism isn't defensible, theism isn't either, and beliefs in specific God(s) are even less.

Ask any philosophy prof.

True, while theoretically possible apodictic certainty in, well, anything, including the existence of the delicious muffin I am ingesting is a philosophical/ logical impossibility.

I do have faith the chair I'm sitting on will hold me, though ;)

I don't own any guns at the moment. But, for the first time, I considered buying a firearm.

I live in a wooded area on 2.5 acres. I heard one of my dogs barking frantically out in my yard. I went to the window to see a coyote had my Shih Tzu by the back of the neck, shaking her like a rag dog. I screamed my dogs name very loudly! The coyote dropped her and ran away.

It turned out my dog was fine except for a few puncture wounds. I think her thick coat of puffy fur must have helped save her.

Six months ago, one of my toy fox terriers got attack by a fox. And, 6 months before that, my other toy fox terrier disappeared never to be found again! He was likely carried off by a coyote.

So, I began to think that I must be crazy living out here among the fox, bears, coyote, and mountain lions without any firearms. Yet, I realized that, in most cases, for a gun to be really useful, I'd have to carry it around with me. I would have to keep any guns locked away for safety most of the time, since I have a son who's only 4 years old.

I still own no guns. But, I do think I might purchase a hunting rifle once my son is old enough to learn how to shoot. I sure would NOT want to lose my right to own firearms.

Gotta 1882 Purdey that my grandfather bought from the shop in Audley Street at the time. Lovely piece of craftsmanship.

In the gun cupboard in UK, proofed for blackpowder only.

What am I going to do with it now I am in Bangkok permanently?

I dunno......

Send it to a guy in Tennessee who'll take good care of it???

So, I take a couple of hours off and all the what the who breaks out!!

Needless to say, I am mostly confused when I read this thread but I do know that I may soon need a gun to defend the rights of people who disagree with my right to operate a vehicle under the influence of international freedom of religion on a local basis.

Did I get most of it?

FWIW, you also have that right in my country if there is a need for it (hunter, collector, shooting competitor, etc.). And you have to learn how to use it.

Hehe. In order to say there is no God, you must have all knowledge (be God). Its really Philosophy 101. You can say, "As far as I know, there is no God"....that's about it. Hey people can believe whatever they wish, but at least take a position that can be debated.

I might not know too much about philosophy but I know a circular argument when I see one. Your statement only makes sense if you buy into the whole God concept. It just comes back to beliefs no matter how you twist and turn it.

Sophistry!

For sale. Browning .50 caliber sniper rifle (high quality Chinese knockoff). Agathis body. Recently set up by Keith Holland's Rifle Hospital in Los Gatos, California. $12 plus $186 for shipping and insurance.

I have been advice by my account officer that when you do finally

receive the check, you should have it cashed at once at your Bank and

deduct the money for your good with an extra $100 as a gift from me to

offset the cost of your run around while on this.

God Bless.

Dude, belongs in the spam thread. We can't allow for random selling posts to pop up. The mods created a place for it, use it...

LOL! :D

I am not a gun freak or nut, but wow -- that is an extreme stand one takes in an open, global forum. Ratae, first of all I don't see how in the world you got that the dude was selling guns (????) and secondly, its someone else's believe in this global, open community probably that guns are OK. I personally don't really like them (not a gun nut) but I do own some. There is a such a thing as responsible gun ownership. Man, they sure have brainwashed you Europeans and I do hear crime is very high there (in the UK). If someone broke into my house, they would have to get past my dogs first, that is worse than any gun. An un-protected citizenry leaves everything in the hands of the govt. and frankly, that scares me worse than anything.

i think the STFU liberal bull{censored} should be yanked from that sig. as a gun owner and a liberal, i have more class than to threaten those who have different political leanings than i do. i don't think anyone on HC should be allowed to do so. it's nothing more than ignorant, childish macho bull{censored}...and really tired and cliche too.

by the way, i'm thinking about selling this. i might be willing to trade for a PRS or a vintage strat:

sean. come on, man.

i haven't read this thread, nor do i intend to ... but i've seen that poor bastard post and even being someone not particularly liberal, i was quite set off by it. on one hand, it's absolutely {censored}ing amazing to me that backwards ass mother{censored}ers like this even actually exist. i always just assumed it was some sort of made up character. no one's REALLY that ridiculous, right? call it the fleeting bit of optimism i have that americans really aren't that stupid.

then, reality hits me and i recognize ... actually, yes, we are. if there're 50 million people that voted for george {censored}ing bush AGAIN, this whole country has to be 50% stupid. and, really, you had to be REALLY {censored}ing stupid to vote for that guy. i voted republican in every election i was able to except that one; because that guy represents everything i hate about america and the world in general. and anyone that feels they're "tough" or "hard" because they just roll up and buy a damn gun - something any common idiot without a criminal record can do - is pretty sad. sad beyond any sort of explanation. "oooooooo lookit me, imma tough guy! i own a gun! i'm like john wayne except i have both lungs!" yeah, you're most likely an insecure little bitch, too.

i'd ask ... don't split because of this idiot. i mean, christ, the guy has some stupid lavey-ish {censored} as his avatar which, if you've ever read any lavey, should say enough. {censored}'s written in the style of a 15 y/o moron pissed off at his parents. just horribly stupid in every way. i can only assume it appeals to anyone with a similarly undeveloped mind.

"where i live, we shoot people for that."

yeah, right, jackass. {censored}in internet tough guy. bring that bull{censored} talk to LA; you'll find some real hard mother{censored}ers.

cheers man, i'd hate to see you go.

Maybe the list of stuff in his sig area? HK assault pistol and clips and ammo?

Quote:

1 Heckler & Koch USP MK23 .45acp pistol - $1825

2 HK USP MK23 .45acp pistol magazines - $160

20 Hornady .45 ACP - 200gr JHP-XTP rounds - $16.49

Like I said, I understand peoples compulsion for firearms, I don't have a problem with that, what I had the problem with is selling them on a Guitar Forum, same way as I'd have a problem with someone spamming hash, weed or hardcore porn in this forum, their legalities differ around the world, but I don't want them here so if it was allowed then I don't want to be part of that, pretty straightforward?

I'm American. I love Jesus. I have high powered semi-automatic rifles and handguns. I'm a "law abiddin'" citizen and I even love my country. I am all the things that liberals and elitists love to hate. They say and think some pretty nasty things about guys like me.

I have two graduate degrees, an international career, semi-automatic firearms under the bed, vote in every election and spend every Sunday in church and volunteering in the community. It's never occured to me that liberals might love to hate me. You sure it's not in your head?

Quite frankly, I don't give a rat's ass if he leaves or not. He saw something that offended his tender sensibilities (mistakenly as it turned out) & opened a drama thread to announce that he was taking his marbles & going home.

{censored} him.

I've lost count of how many times I've had to ignore offensive signatures, anti-American diatribes, & the ever popular "Bush sucks" comments on this GUITAR forum. Some of you assholes have the gall to do this AND act like the thought police if someone with an opposing viewpoint does it. Why the hell can't you haul your sorry asses over to the Political Forum for this {censored}?

They found a body, murdered and stuffed in a trash can across the street from my girlfriend and I monday. They've already caught the guy that did it, allegedly. The victim was apparently trespassing on the perps porch. So the perp killed him. In a part of the city that you can see bullet riddled cars any day of the week and hear gunfire on a day to day basis, I thought it was mildly interesting that he killed the guy by physically beating him to death. Cause of death, blunt force trauma to the head.

Nice one, Fretsy.

You took a couple HOURS off? I've been away for a couple of DAYS ...

Interesting how a thread about guns morphs into a thread about God. Only in America ...

While I'm here, I do indeed believe in God -- or, at any rate, in a power which created, and which drives, the universe. I've just never encountered a human description of this force which strikes me as adequate and credible -- God being not only more than we imagine, but more than the human mind is CAPABLE of imagining.

And I also love guns -- but only in the movies.
