  1. jesus christ, who the {censored} is this clownshoe?
  2. irish? yeah, that's a great {censored}in idea. THE TRAILER TRASH TATTOOED PIECE OF {censored} PARTY WILL RISE AND DESTROY YOU ALL.
  3. came to say what burgess said. my band of three years - which i loved dearly - played our farewell show last weekend. lots of people were asking what imma do next and my response was always "i think imma just take a little break." right now, without them ... i'm just not feeling the motivation to put the time in to it. but considering the weirdass, random and awesome opportunities that have fallen in my lap here in hollywood ... who knows what could happen?
  4. I'm bored with those who say he couldn't write. His music still resonates with millions of people nearly 20 years after he kicked the bucket. That means the dude could write. that's being a far bit generous, i'd say - who actually gives a {censored} about nirvana anymore except the old farts who were there nearly 20 years ago? had he not blown his head off at the height of his popularity, i assure you his "legacy" would be far, far less. chris cornell was writing FAR better, by any standard, songs at the same time and he really just sadly comes off as a kind of washed up old guy these days. and cobain couldn't write, say, "4th of july" if he had 100 chances and chris helping. he just stole some pixies and melvins riffs, threw in some truly awful lyrics and had butch vig and/or steve albini make him rich ... then blew his head off because the media made him into something he knew he wasn't. which i suppose is respectable in some way. sorry. please - tell me something he wrote that wasn't stupid and sophomoric. i'll give him credit for "in bloom" ... he at least knew his audience and decency level by that point.
  5. Well Cobain wasn't the greatest guitar player but man that guy could write. ugh, i'm so bored with this statement. you know what, no ... not really. he wrote a few catchy riffs and refrains that were admittedly lifted from OTHER popular songs. this is not difficult. and most of his lyrics were just stupid. tom waits can write. townes van zandt could write. gram parsons could write. leonard cohen can write. richard buckner can write. etc etc etc ... that said, no one really cares about those silly lists other than those who simply want to see a reaction. it's just trolling in print.
  6. because the market is way too small to justify the cost of the airtime, never mind production costs. that {censored} ain't cheap. trust me.
  7. my major health issue is that hangovers suck a lot more these days.
  8. buying cheap used gear and trying to resale cheap used gear is not going to be a particularly successful venture.
  9. If your happy with it fine, but you must also accept society's view but the more someone says "{censored} everyone and what they may think", the more they call attention to themselves. At times, we strive so hard to be individualistic, that we end up looking like everyone else. meh. none of my {censored} has anything to do with being an "individual." i'm not trying to be "different." i just like being tattooed. i like getting tattooed. i like letting my dear friend create permanent art on me. i think it's a beautiful thing. is that "different?" sure, i guess it kind of is; but it's certainly very far from my motivation for having it. i honestly couldn't give an explanation beyond "i like it." my mom asks me all the time why i do this or why i've done this and the only answer i've ever had is "well ... i just like it." insofar as "{censored} what anyone might think" ... well, yeah. perhaps it's living in southern california that's spoiled me with this ABSOLUTELY CRAZY IDEA that people should be judged by what they're actually capable of producing as opposed to some societal norm of what someone should LOOK like. and like i said ... if someone doesn't want my work simply because of my appearance - i really, really, really don't care. i wouldn't want to work for them in the first place. i've turned down extremely lucrative job offers in the past because i'd have had to take out my earrings or wear long sleeves or whatever silly little rules they may have had. i'll go back to delivering pizza before i lie about who i am just for the almighty dollar. jello said it best ... why don't you take your social regulations and shove 'em up your ass
  10. Absolutely. I picked an artist whose work fit what I was after, so I had some trust in him from the beginning. He looked at the art work that I brought him and recommended a series of small changes that he thought would tattoo better but would still maintain the essence of the piece. He was absolutely right. I doubt that most people would even notice the changes if they had the original art work next to the tattoo, but the changes allow the tattoo to work properly with the 3-dimensional surface of my arm and the way the skin moves and reshapes as muscles move. excellent! you're doing it right.
  11. i'd have to wear full finger gloves to "interviews" if i was so compelled to hide anything; but {censored} that. anyone that has a problem with the fact that i'm heavily tattooed can really {censored} right off. though, my client roster that includes some of the biggest companies in the world don't seem to mind. suit and tie? {censored} that. i go to client meetings in a tshirt and jeans and chucks. i don't hide a goddamn thing. someone has a problem with it? {censored} 'em. i don't need 'em anyway. company policy? company policy can {censored} right off. you want my services? then you deal with ME. and really, i LOVE when people stereotype me. {censored}'s so rad because it's so funny. go ahead and talk {censored}; i'm the one billing more in a month than you make all year. all these lame mother{censored}ers playing by someone else's rules. must suck to be so scared by the machine. keep {censored}in that chicken.
  12. i'd advise you to give what you've drawn to the artist and let him/her work with it. there're subtleties in the art of a tattoo that are sort of specific to it. you'll wind up with a piece you're much happier with, i promise.
  13. Everybody judges people by their appearance. Everybody. You can be the nicest guy in the world, and look like a dork, and everyone will assume you're a dork until you prove otherwise. Why people would want to go out of their way to get people to assume they're a dork is beyond me. Yet studies have mostly shown that people into outrageous clothing, tattoos or body piercings generally have self esteem issues and would rather you judge them by their perceived disagreeable appearance, then by meeting them and simply not liking them. "You don't like me because you feel threatened by my tattoos!" Yeah, right. Of course there are some people who just like them, but I'm sure that's a pretty low percentage. If you ask 100 kids in high school about some guy with a sleeve, they'd probably go "Bad ass, tough guy!" Then ask 100 working adults and they'll go "the guy who works at the car wash until he's 65." The fact everybody seems to hide their tattoos when going for a job interview or to meet the new girlfriends parents tells you even they know it was a bad idea and they know they're going to be judged harshly by it. lulz@pretty much all of this
  14. ps - for god's sake, everyone, stop saying "tat." it's almost as bad as "tattoo gun." have some respect for the art.
  15. Saying that, I'm always amazed when I see people post huge tattoos that they say were done in just a few hours. anyone saying that either has really {censored}ty work or is lying. real simple.
  16. i'd like to see that much done in such a short timeframe looks like. i'm sincerely curious.
  17. killed it cuz i got new mixes/mastered files. sound a {censored}load better. i'll send a link rinnow.
  18. only freaks, weirdos and lowlifes get tattooed. take a shower and get a haircut.
  19. both arms (shoulders to top of my hands) are covered - and all my knuckles have something on them; full backpiece is about 1/4 done at this point. also have an outline on my stomach that needs to get finished as soon as i forget how much it hurt. somethin like 200+ hours in and have probably spent close to $20k over the course of the last 3 years. but this is with a much better artist than i've gone to in the past, as i've been getting tattooed since i was 18; but never with any cohesion. current guy's done an amazing job fixing that. i generally do one full day session a month - approx. 6-10 hours of tattooing, depending on how it's going and how i'm feeling. i pay $600 per all day session. the most important thing is find an artist you can connect with on a personal level. it's a hell of a commitment and most artists i've known/dealt with are complete and utter "cooler-than-thou" douchebags that act like they're doing you a favor. and when considering serious work; this is a mother{censored}er you're gonna have to be around A LOT - so it better be someone you like. it wasn't until i met my current artist (who i also consider one of my best friends) that i really committed to REAL work. and it helps that he's just an amazing tattooer.
