  1. true...but, your point being? This is an ancient thread with no replies in 8 years....now, do you think the prior posters still care, or are even still here? Welcome to Harmony Central...please date check the threads before you post, thank you in advance for your cooperation...
  2. sorry, but every time I see this name only one thing comes to mind...
  3. yes, on a violin, cello, viola, even upright bass, the sound posts are the transfer points for the bridge, and the relationship of bridge location to the posts are positioned specifically for best projection based on the 'f'-holes. Jazz guitars however, don't have sound posts...and, sadly, many low end manufacturers do not understand the proper placement of 'f'-holes'. The 'big' guys, Gibson/Epiphone, Gretsch, Guild/DeArmond, and Ibanez, understand the proper placement tradition on their hollow bodies, but on their semi-hollow bodies [where it isn't as critical], Gibson/Ibanez put the bridge below the 'points', and Gretsch/Guild above... Many just consider them as 'decorative' on a semi, like on Fender Thinlines. The time-saving of pinning a bridge, though, is worth it if you change strings frequently and like to clean the instrument at that opportunity. I've pinned a few for folks over the years...
  4. Top shape wise, with the Florentine cutaway, yeah, but the AK is a true hollowbody jazz box. Which is why it has the floating wood bridge....unlike our ES-135s which are semis with much thinner bodies.
  5. Happy NGD! Enjoy! a moment of steel wool application and that spot should be gone. Floating bridges are a PITA, but you can the base in place...I'm would not do exactly what this guy did, I would use something like a small roll pin rather than nails, and even he admits he should have taped the bridge down for the transfer of the holes...I would have drilled through just to mark the points, then removed the bridge, drilled, installed the pins and then put the bridge back...he spends way too much time fussing with those nails, IMHO
  6. so does EGF, DIY and 'teh maps' forum๐Ÿ˜‰ sadly, there are only a few of us moderators left here; two are very 'forum specific', and, of the rest, I am probably the most 'experienced' [longevity] and the most generalized [serving all forums]... so if you need moderation, feel free to PM me...
  7. you are most welcome...that is what mods are here for...
  8. in case anyone is curious...I 'pinned'* this thread for y'all...keep'em comin'! [*what we used to call a 'sticky']
  9. What 'creative part'? The creative part was made by musicians...in bands, that survived, at least long enough to make a good recordings....
  10. sounds defective to me...send it back, and complain...
  11. well again, the Sedona is pretty danged pricey...even the 'lite' [25W, 1x10] costs more than a used T5 standard...and the 55W model is the price of a new T5...not to denigrate the quality, but in all seriousness, most solo gigs didn't pay enough to warrant my having $5-6k worth of gear on stage [if there even was a stage]. And considering the current situation, I don't expect the pay to get better...

  13. I use fishing line or twine....but that surgical tubing is good too, and is re-usable, but costs a lot more ... I've had to do upper bout switches, and those are a real grunt if the p-ups are still in place...
  14. same bass is at Reverb I will agree the neck is likely original, Hondo's were rebranded across multiple logos in multiple countries.
  15. unfortunately, this discussion ended about 13 years ago...
  16. better vibration transfer due to seating the bridge more firmly...'several wood screws' always would be the last resort...re-gluing the bridge should have worked...
  17. well, officially, they are not the new owners, but I do not know who is...
  18. You are in no way at fault, unless you had posted the case for sale as 'authentic' [whatever that means] and it was not, but that does not appear to be the case here. This is a perfect 'caveat emptor' case where the buyer either made an incorrect assumption or suffered 'buyer's remorse', neither of which is grounds for a dispute...IMHO. Beyond that, even though you were gracious enough to agree to the return/refund, the buyer waited beyond the return period specified by the intermediary [PayPal]. They also failed to advise you of the shipment, send you tracking information on the return, or to specify a signature was required. They can try to retrieve the 'package' via their shipper, assuming it is where the shipper left it, but I don't think you have any obligations.
  19. well, we shall see what we shall see what there is to see when we see it, see?
  20. and once you get the right slide on the right finger [I'm a pinky guy myself, but I'm also an atheist ๐Ÿ˜‰] then come back and we can talk about open tunings, fretting behind the slide and such...๐Ÿ˜Ž
  21. Welcome to HC, LucyD! That is an interesting variant the UK has, as far as the studio having ownership.
