  1. Here's an MC-100 for $140. Let that be your guide: https://reverb.com/item/883675-morris-mc-100-classical-guitar
  2. Sorry, I can't agree with putting nylon strings on a steel string guitar. Every guitar I've played with that setup sounded dreadful.
  3. garthman - A nicely done rendition of one of my favorite songs.
  4. Can't help but congratulations on the acquisition. Come back and post before/after pics when the restoration is done.
  5. True. My Alvarez has no volute. I'd simply expect it to be farther up the neck. That's what I get for playing cheap gear. 😉
  6. garthman - Well done. The second song was new to me but I enjoyed both. Idunno - Another favorite, well played.
  7. Looking forward to the next exciting episode.
  8. Merry Christmas and congrats on the new pedals. Mrs. DerpEnd and I haven't exchanged gifts yet so no idea what I got.
  9. MesaMonster - Great looking collection. Do you have different guitars for different applications (for example, I assume the 3 pickup LP fits a specific niche) or do you just like collecting?
  10. daddymack - Well done and perfect for the season.
  11. I'm going to assume you mean an AD60. No clue what strings are on it now and if you bought it used all bets are off. That said, strings are (relatively) cheap so you can always experiment. In my mind, "twangy" suggests fairly light strings. A heavier gauge might help. If your guitar has lights now, mediums might help. Coated strings, different formulations like nickel bronze/aluminum bronze or monel.
  12. Welcome back. Little arguing these days because there's minimal activity. Maybe you can help change that (the level of activity, not the arguing 😉).
  13. Congratulations. Happy New Guitar Day. One of my college roommates had a white Jazzmaster and he was a heck of a guitarist.
  14. Congratulations. Happy New Strat Day.
  15. Can't add much of anything except to wish you luck. That said, my gut is telling me you need to have a different shop take a crack at setting it up. If they can't improve it they may be able to point out whatever issues it has.

Happy New Guitar Day. And congratulations on the bargain. FWIW, I like the tortoise pickguard and I'd leave it.
  17. Looks good. Glad to hear you're getting it "there."
  18. Congratulations. Happy New(ly traded) Guitar Day.
  19. I've always identified as a "hack" and it amazes me that non-guitarists think I'm better than I am.
  20. Thanks for the link. Never tried coated strings. Since I said I'm currently using Ernie Ball they might not send me any, LOL.
  21. A used Seagull in good condition would fill the bill for a steel string if you can find one cheap enough. They have models with a 1.8" nut width. They used to be a great bargain but prices have risen. You may have to increase your budget. Be sure to check the specs before you buy.
  22. You're definitely a better man than I am. I wouldn't even attempt a project like this and if I did it would never get finished.
  23. I haven't won anything but I do scan your "Win a guitar" thread once a week and enter the ones that appeal to me, so you haven't "failed."
