Members Anderton Posted July 20, 2016 Members Posted July 20, 2016 This has got to be a joke, but these days, who's to know...
Members nat whilk II Posted July 20, 2016 Members Posted July 20, 2016 I'm getting a bad link message from your "This" link..... nat whilk ii
Members AlamoJoe Posted July 20, 2016 Members Posted July 20, 2016 Since there is no link, I have to assume you are referring to The Republican Convention.
Members Mats Nermark Posted July 20, 2016 Members Posted July 20, 2016 There a : missing in the link after http and it takes you to an ad on Craigslist.http://nashville.craigslist.org/muc/5672271505.html And while I really don't know, I laughed really hard at this. Something about the Newmans and the Tellerfunkens together with having the guitarist in charge of mixing make me think it's an insiders joke. Cheers, Mats N
Members Anderton Posted July 20, 2016 Author Members Posted July 20, 2016 Thanks Mats, I fixed the link. Love those Newman mics!
Members nat whilk II Posted July 20, 2016 Members Posted July 20, 2016 Surely the ad is intended to illustrate how the music industry expects musicians to put up with treatment that no one on the business side would ever put up with. Sadly, musicians put up with it all the time. It's the lottery mentality of the business I guess. Being mistreated is what you pay for your lottery ticket to possible yet fantastically improbable riches and fame. nat whilk ii
Members gismo recording Posted July 20, 2016 Members Posted July 20, 2016 Somebody posted that link on Facebook. I thought it was hilarious.
Members t_e_l_e Posted July 20, 2016 Members Posted July 20, 2016 i think they are dead serious, the opposite side of the table has such offers all the time, why shouldn't musicians not make them aswell? its quite the same the offer from restaurants and bars make, to let bands play for free to get their name out, where some responded with letters to restaurants, they should offer catering service for their party, wedding etc you name, so the restaurant can spread their name out... i'm still not sure if the restaurants and bars got the messages, cause the playing for free offer still come up very frequently
Phil O'Keefe Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Every studio owner I know has had "offers" from bands that sound exactly like that Craigslist post. There's a reason why most places don't do spec deals... I'm not sure if that one is sincere or a brilliant send-up. But I laughed!
Members onelife Posted July 20, 2016 Members Posted July 20, 2016 Isn't that the letter that Brian Epstein sent to EMI at Abbey Road in London?
Members dboomer Posted July 20, 2016 Members Posted July 20, 2016 I'm guessing no one has the prerequisite Newman and Tellerfunker mics.
Members AlamoJoe Posted July 20, 2016 Members Posted July 20, 2016 Well...Nothing ventured, Nothing gained.I hope somebody takes 'em up on it.

Members gismo recording Posted July 21, 2016 Members Posted July 21, 2016 That was on the Nashville craigslist. They just posted it again on the Raleigh craigslist.
Members trevcda Posted July 21, 2016 Members Posted July 21, 2016 Just posted this in the forum below: http://nashville.craigslist.org/muc/5689233032.html
Phil O'Keefe Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 I'm guessing no one has the prerequisite Newman and Tellerfunker mics. I've put a ELA M251E in front of more than one person who looked at it (and me) askance and called me on it for the mic not being a "newman." I wish I could say I'm joking, but I'm not.
Phil O'Keefe Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Just posted this in the forum below: http://nashville.craigslist.org/muc/5689233032.html "I am a better mixer/engineer after a half a dozen double whiskey sours and some meth so... let's have a good time and see what happens!!" You wrote that response? I loved it!

Members gismo recording Posted July 21, 2016 Members Posted July 21, 2016 One of the better Raleigh replies. https://raleigh.craigslist.org/muc/5690217806.html
