Members Grant Harding
I always thought the slutty ads were lame, but never cancelled my Guitar Player sub due to them.
Members DeepEnd
How did you feel about them if they were in ads from a manufacturer' date=' and not placed in there by magazine editors? Did say, Dean ads in Guitar Player make you want to not buy it or cancel your subscription?[/quote'] Not the magazine but they'd make me think twice about buying a Dean. If I find any company's ads offensive for whatever reason, I'm less inclined to buy from them.
Members Grant Harding
Yeah - I never even considered Dean guitars due to their "Gene Simmons" approach to advertising.
Members humbuckerstrat
People still buy guitar mags???? I find them to be very inspirational. I have subscriptions to Guitar Player, Guitar World, and Vintage Guitar.
Members Tomm Williams
I'd rather look @ real female players. But should those legitimate female players dress in a sexually charged manner ( not uncommon) does that cloud the controversy?
Members 1001gear
I was gonna go on about sluts and hos having nothing to do with guitar buying but I'll previse that to say that if there's no tatoos and they're actually pretty, bring it. Members Chordite
Considering 90% of songs are about sex in some form or another it's a bit like taking the roads out of car ads.

Well, no more than when they're playing actual gigs.
Members Danhedonia
Considering 90% of songs are about sex in some form or another it's a bit like taking the roads out of car ads. So .... songs about sex have to involve in purely ornamental, traditionally demeaning roles?
Members Dr. Scottie C
Am I on Harmony Central, or the Oprah Winfrey forum? C'mon.... some cute girls holding a guitar won't hurt anything. Truth: Even some women like to see other cute women.... my wife will point out to me how sexy another woman is..... it's all about common sense.... obviously a woman in a 2 piece bathing suit holding a Les Paul and a woman doing a room full a guys in every orifice of her body 2 & 3 at a time in a gonzo porn are not one in the same....and should be treated differently. Did say, Dean ads in Guitar Player make you want to not buy it or cancel your subscription? Seeing ads like that make me think that ManufacturerX views their target customer as a 15 year old virgin who is taking up guitar to cover for the fact that he's too afraid of girls to actually talk to them. Seeing a magazine full of those ads makes me believe that many manufacturers view the readership in that way. I haven't been part of that demographic in a long time, and have little interest in products or magazines aimed at them. As the father of two female musicians, I prefer ads depicting women playing instruments as opposed to drilling over them like phalic symbols. Better yet, maybe you should write one. It could be the start of a whole new trend.
