Members New Trail
I'm looking for a pedal that doesn't color the sound too much, can achieve some good OD but clean up for chords when the guitar volume is turned down, just like a real amp, and that will sound good in front of a Fender or Marshall amp. What are some pedals that can do this? Thanks!
Members mike squires
can't go wrong with the classic Ibanez tube screamer.
Members New Trail
can't go wrong with the classic Ibanez tube screamer. I like that sound, too, but I already have a TS-808, TS-9 and Sparkledrive that covers those sounds pretty well. I'm looking to add another pedal without the midrange hump/bump, more neutral sounding and with more available OD as well.

Members reverberlayed
I hear the Fulltone OCD mentioned every time I see this question although I've never tried one. Also, I really like my Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret. It's not strictly OD, but ranges from OD tones to crunchy distortion and sounds like a Marshall. Members Will Chen
It gets overlooked due to it being a Boss, but the BD-2 Blues Driver is a really good overdrive/distortion IMHO. Very sensitive to picking dynamics as well as guitar volume knob changes. Its has a much more neutral EQ curve than TS styled pedals, but as such can be slightly picky about amp pairing. Best of all you can find them for less than $50 on the used market...
