Members fettouhi
I've been thinking about getting another guitar for some time and I have narrowed my options down to 4. 1. Lefty Vigier Excalibur Special2. Lefty Jackson PC-1 (not in production anymore but pops on ebay now and again)3. Custom built Lefty Carvin with similar to the above guitars maybe with piezo inside4. Lefty ESP E-II ST-1 Maple AQM All in all very similars guitars also different. I really like the Vigier guitars because 90/10 carbon necks and their ball-bearing trems but I also would like a guitar with a sustainer which the Jackson PC-1 has. Thought about getting a Vigier and then put a sustainer in that. Could also go for custom built Carvin with the whole she-bang, phase switch, coil splitters and piezo. Thoughts? Members badpenguin
Every Carvin I have ever played has been a joy. Getting one built to your specs, should be a wonderful experience.Vigiers, aren't that common here, and the one I diod play, many years ago, didn't mesmerize me.Jackson never did it for me. the Sistainiac system, why not just get a good Fernadez with it built in? they were the ones who created it afterall. Members hellion_213
I've always liked ESP, especially dig the Floyd. Not big on the bridge on the Vigier. Jacksons never did it for me, I always wind up flipping a Jackson.

What intersted me mostly about the Vigier guitars was their necks with the carbon rods but I think carvin is doing something similar. Only downside with the Fernandez susteiner IMHO is the it requires rerouting the guitar, hence the sustainiac seems like an easier choice.
Members RaVenCAD
From your list, Carvin is an absolute no-brainer. I'm a huge Carvin fan. My CT4 is one of the finest guitars I've ever touched in my life. You will definitely not be disappointed by Carvin.
Members Grant Harding
I'd expect the Vigier to be significantly better than the others in that last, but also more expensive. That would be my choice if I couldn't play them.

Members fettouhi
Leaning more and more towards Carvin because they offer almost all their guitars as lefties as well and there are so many great options.
Members RaVenCAD
Don't forget Keisel - Carvin's premium custom line. They'll do more exotic stuff that you can't get on a "normal" Carvin. Crazier woods, fanned frets, etc.. Same amazing build quality, just less restrictive on the options. No routing required on your part because the sustainer is factory installed. And they do make left handed models.

Members soundcreation
Aren't those rather crappy guitars? Fernandes are like most other companies. They have cheap models and MIJ models. I'm sure the MIJ models are as good as any of the things you've mentioned so far.
Members DeepEnd
Aren't those rather crappy guitars? No. Fernandes' better MIJ models are as good as anything out there. They make a very good Strat style and their other models aren't junk either.
Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted March 8, 2016 Moderators Share Posted March 8, 2016 The Vigiers are simply on another level to the rest of your list. We used to have a Vigierphile in here, but can't quite remember who it was. Every bit of a Vigier is designed to work as well as it's possible to get something to work. They even use needle bearings in their vibrato units
