A good gigbag.

Speaking for myself, I carry my own guitar. It rides with me to the gig in my truck. I own a fair assortment of guitars, but except for only occasionally I only carry one guitar to the gig. All of my guitars can fit in that gigbag. It is actually a gigbag for an acoustic guitar. My old Roadrunner gigbag has served me very well for at least 3 years and it's got some years left.

I keep an assortment of things in the pockets... basic tools, extra strings, extra strap, cords, cable tester, tuner, flashlight, extra batteries for the flashlight and some 9v batteries in case another player needs one, an extra spring for the bass drum pedal... just things that can save the night.

It's pretty handy.

But my contribution to this thread - which I've posted here before as a "PUBLIC SERVICE ANOUNCEMENT" - is the Fast Fret.

Keeps strings from tarnishing as quickly and restores slightly oxidized strings back to slick playability.

But I try to apply a quick wipe up and down the strings after each play of my guitars (before putting them away) to remove the salt from finger/hand contact and to leave behind a protective treatment. I've got a lot of guitars and changing my strings is not my favorite things, and neither is playing on black strings, so this stuff really helps preserve the strings. Of course, not spanking fresh, but they don't go to Dullsville anywhere near as fast with this stuff.

Oh and one more. Every once in a while I'll actually change my strings. and when I do I'll put a drop or less on each fret space - rub it about with my finger tip - let it soak into the rosewood/ebony for a good 5 minutes or so - and then wipe off the excess. It darkens "beautifies" the wood and helps preserve it from cracking and wear and tear.

oh and the metal tipped DAVA control pick, its the best funnest Ive used, you can control dynamics super easy with it and the notes have more sustain:thu:

I like these too. I alternate between Davas and Tortex 1.12mm (the purple ones). The Dava picks with the variable thickness design are great for acoustic, and especially for switching between acoustic and electric, as I like a much lighter pick for strumming on an acoustic.
