Members PlinytheWelder
Trainwreck amp, that is... I laid out all the parts to take inventory, then found out that I mis-placed the power and standby switches... Damn! Then I tried to go to Lowes to get some rubber grommets and found my garage door jammed with a busted spring... Double damn!! So I ordered some more switches from MetroAmp and started into it a bit. I mounted the tube sockets which required me to Unibit the V1 hole a bit bigger to fit the Teflon socket I'm using there to try and get microphonics down. Hogged out a hole in back for an IEC socket, so I can unplug the power cord and mounted that. Finally got to Lowes for some grommets and other hardware, but it's getting late so I'll quit for now and have some beer since I'm on vacation. Here's some quick pics... Here's the circuit boards after I drilled the mounting holes for the rubber mounts I'm using... More later...
Members kulardenu
Is this a purchased kit project or are you working from a schematic and a parts list?

Schematic and parts list and all the other docs that are at http://ampgarage.com/forum/index.php I'm changing it up a bit from a straight clone with power scaling and some other changes... Members kulardenu
Looks like it would be fun. A bit out of my talents at this time. I always wanted to try a amp project, thinking of tackling the the Firefly Amp as the soundclips sound awesome and it would make a fantastic bedroom amp. I actually have went as far to get a OT for it but have yet to do anything beyond that.
Members 9-Pin-Phoenix
My favorite amp sim on my Axe FX is the Trainwreck one. I use it for probably 70% of what I do. Plus - I have often thought about building an amp from a kit. Have you built an amp before? I'll be watching this with interest.
Members PlinytheWelder
I worked on it for about 12 hours today and made a lot of progress. I'll take some more pics and update tomorrow.... I'm tired....

I've done a lot of solid state stuff over the years and modded some guitar amps, but this is the first one I'm building from scratch... Here some more pics of the populated boards and the heaters and caps wired
Members igge
With those turret boards there's only one style of music the amp will let you play. The blues. Amp looks good so far. Did the chassis really come in the can? Looks a bit small to me...
Members newmaxnew
You may want to redo those heater wires and get more twist to them. Take a look at a some real clean builds to see how twisted those wires usually are. Max
Members Jimmy Chitown
You go girl...er...dude. Make sure you get some blue goo to slather over random parts of the circuit. Adds much Mojo! Where did you source the chassis and components, generally speaking--(you can skip the odd bits)? Can't wait for clips.

Take a look at a some real clean builds to see how twisted those wires usually are. Max Those heater wires are pretty much an exact copy of a real TrainWreck. It's kind of a religion over at The Amp Garage with the people that study these to get the wiring topology as close as possible to a real Wreck to get them stable and not oscillate. These things have so much gain in so few stages that they love to run away. With the lazy twist you can run all the signal wires at right angles to each other and the heater wires... Really. Here's the boards fitted. Here's a layout that I like that gives you the idea....

Members PlinytheWelder
I got the switches I need to finish it today, so I mounted up all the front stuff to see how it looks... VVR3 Internals with the PEC pots I'm gonna have to trim the shafts on the pots to get the Creamy Chickenheads to fit... I think it's looking pretty good so far. Creamy knobs for creamy tone! Edit: Damn....they won't work, the knobs interfere....ugh!
