From my experience the first reissues and korean models from the late 90s are of better quality than the new stuff. I also dont care for the matte finishes and matte silver pickups. Most of the Dano's I've seen were quite cheap. I suppose they're designed to appeal to a niche audience who cares more about idiosyncratic aesthetic than pure tone and build quality. There are pros who played them, Jimmy Page among them (also, that guy from The Apples In Stereo) but they never truly grabbed me, except as a potentially cool oddity. I'm not defending THIS newest model, mind you. It would be fine if it weren't for those goofy cutaways. It's like they're trying too hard to be wacky, you know?
