Members NinjaModder
Doesn't Gibson know better by now!? Real tone isn't in the wood. Its from soaking the guitar in a pond for a couple of years. They could save a bunch of money! And didn't Nashville flood recently!?
Members Alecto
Yes, growing more wood is a moral imperative . . .Whether it's "smart" wood is another story.
Members Steadfastly
Below is a comment by Kurt Gibson who plays Gibson Guitars. I wonder how much Gibson pays him for comments like these and how many free Gibson guitars he gets from them. This is all marketing and nothing else. What's too bad is that many people fall for it and waste their hard earned dollars. "That
Members Dirty South Al
I think we are all getting off topic here folks. The topic is all about wood. So I think if there more sexy bikini contest around the world we could raise more than enough wood to offset the shortage or shrinkage for that matter......pretty logical solution IMHO. i kept telling my wife that doing that contest will one day come back to bite her on the ass and low and behold I see her right here on HC where i hang out. damn! i am so embarrassed. man! Members mygolfcart123
Floods, raids, Firebird X, QC problems...there may soon be only one big boy on the block. Um that would be TWO big boys on the block...Fender and PRS!
Members Steadfastly
Um that would be TWO big boys on the block...Fender and PRS! How about the big shops in China, Asia and have you looked at Godin lately?
Members onelife
Hmm. Maybe now all Gibbys will be "lawsuit" Gibbys! That's a good one.
Members *BLEEP*
(Memphis 8/24/2011) U.S. Fish and Wildlife agents raided Gibson Guitar's downtown Memphis location Wednesday morning, alleging Gibson may be using illegal materials to make their guitars... Looks like Gibson is being busted for the lack of obtaining a fishing license. Those USA Anniversary Flood Les Paul Studio models probably had endangered fish and other river critters trapped in the finish.
Members shinsengumi
I'd be quite pleased if Tokai bought Gibson, got rid of the Gibson name, but legally put Les Paul on their Love Rocks....

Members mygolfcart123
Yep. Ever since he has not been on stage with Zepplin he's been a different person. I'll bet it was him who ratted Gibson out. LOL!

Members Faber
Environmental protection - it's serious business. If Gibson, or any other maker for that matter, knowingly obtain illegally harvested wood then they absolutely should be punished for it.
Members ihavenofish
Um that would be TWO big boys on the block...Fender and PRS! um, prs isnt a big boy by any measure. gibson isnt that big either with less than 10% of the US market (thats including epiphone). Frets99
but I do know that good wood is getting ever-harder to get. The older I get, the more true this is...
Members RaVenCAD
Not Carvin??? I'm shocked I tell ya! nah, Carvin wouldn't want Gibson. They make intelligent, forward thinking instruments. Not stuff that's trapped in a time warp stuck on -60 years.

Members Steadfastly
I was talking about the three biggest selling guitar makers in the US, you were not! I didn't catch that point. However, they are not really USA any longer. They have guitars made all over the globe. For example, Fender's MIA necks are made by Godin in Quebec. Gibson and Fender both likely have more guitars made offshore than they do in the USA. Only their Head Offices are there these days.
