I've posted lots of clips in the sticky jam since it's a pretty friendly place so even a hack like me gets some compliments

As for a video ...I couldn't do that...I would have to get it right in one take . Besides I don't think I even have a picture of me playing guitar let alone a video

I've posted a few clips but haven't received much a of response.

Here's a recent metal clip: http://soundcloud.com/jim-parker-2/metal

A less recent pop clip: http://soundcloud.com/jim-parker-2/poorinafrica

And this is is an audition video for a CCM band. I didn't get the gig, but I feel like this is a fair representation of what I can do on guitar.

I've never posted to the group at large, and shall do so now. I don't have any electric clips -- something that I'll try and rectify next weekend. I'm actually much thinner, handsomer, and better than in that video, but the camera is a BIG LIAR!!!!

I posted a rough idea/noodle of mine a little while back - got no feedback.

Probably because

A - Most of you don't like metal

B - My tone sucks

C - My playing sucks

D - All of the above

:idk:

Seriously, I didn't play guitar for a while after that.

Get used to it. This is a gear board. People will argue at length about how poly sucks and they only play nitro finished guitars, but they are rarely interested in actually hearing the difference between the two. Some members will always check out clips, but they are the minority.

I happen to believe that every functioning electric guitar and amp are capable of producing some happening tone, but you have to be able to distinguish between good tone and bad tone (yes, I think there is such a thing as crappy tone). To do that, you have to have quite a bit of experience in both playing and listening to lots of music. It also involves evaluation skills and being able to pick out specific characteristics of guitar tones. We don't teach our young people how to evaluate anything anymore. We teach them to embrace everything--there's no right/wrong etc. The results have taken us to a dark place in western civ., but that's for another forum. So don't be surprised when you post something if it's ignored. The exception is when the OP shepherds the thread like this one to keep it going.

See the link in my sig. I used most of my guitars on that one, the only one you hear twice is the doubled slide part.

Hey, Flogger, i tried to listen to your clip but it won't let me hear it unless I download it. What's up with that?

geez...this thread makes me wish i had current vids, but i don't (yet)...anyway, it's all in the sig(s), and mostly old hippie {censored} that seems to resonate more with our old hippie friends than with the youngsters here (although my kids think we're pretty bitchin' ;)...)

I have posted quite a few clips, they generally go un-noticed but that doesn't really deter me.

In fact I posted a previous mix of this song just the other day and didn't get any responses. BUt I'm posting it again because I actually rather like it.

I adjusted the levels and switched up the crunch track. The vocals are still a bit iffy IMO but it's coming along.

Awesome! I never imagined such a great response!

I'm listening to some new names, or at least clips(to me) now, which is great! Thanks for posting!

A guitarman you guys sound great. Must be a fun band to play, with the ability to handle so many songs.

And some expected kick-ass playing from Dcoop, Mo, TLbonehead, Stomias, Frets

if i'm known at all around here, it's probably not for my clips, but i have shared a few tracks over the years here. i tend to create my own music, but will occasionally fudge a decent cover (all in good fun, of course). it's always nice to see when someone listens and posts, but it doesn't bother me when others don't. the priority around here has been and will probably always be about the gear and not necessarily the music being created with it by other forumites. i'm cool with that.

here are some recent ones:

here's a collaboration that i did with fellow forumite DavidMGT - http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=11617230

here's a song i was working on one night that i keep meaning to go back to for vocals and/or other parts. i'm also toying with the idea of offering this up as a backing track for one of the monthly "sticky jam" threads. all guitars recorded with my Trussart - http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=11078837

here's a collaboration that i did a little while back with fellow forumite Jkater. it's a cover of Django Reinhardt's "Minor Swing". i did all my parts on a Martin D35 - http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10861658

here's a vocal/guitar track i recorded a year or so ago in honor of a very good friend who passed away the year prior. it's a cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" and no i can't sing very well. i used a 339 fingerstyle into a matchless - http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10756917

here's an instrumental that i recorded to accompany a NGD for my '62 Fender Jaguar. i think it came out cool. you're going to want to play it loud in order to appreciate some subtle nuances that get lost on laptop speakers - http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10688043

last one (unless you actually want more); this is a fun-sounding little instrumental ditty i called "Frizz" that i tracked using a '61 Gretsch Double Annie. i was getting a lot of ground noise that night, so the tracks are noisy, but the vibe is there - http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10684627
