Members kit_strong
I'm never quite sure what over-rated means in such a situation. I haven't exactly seen any metacritic scores for guitarists. So over-rated by who? Or is it whom?

It means the guitarist that someone with superior taste (me) likes less than I say that someone with inferior taste (you) like.

Members Dr_Kuh
I think the term "overrated" is used very loosely on this forum. You should first think about how the guitarist is rated. Eric Clapton for example was mentioned very early. He is rated as one of the most infulential guitarists of all time. I think this is ok. Is he the best guitarist alive? Probably not. So he is hardly overrated.
Members docjeffrey
Slash? Cobain? Slowhand? Santana? WTF have you been smoking? Zakk would get my vote.
Members Dehumanize
Why is that Disturbed douche featured in so many guitar magazines? Dan Donegan, or something like that. I've never heard someone mention him outside of a magazine article/blurb.

Members noisebloom
No way it's Cobain, because I don't recall anyone ever saying, "Cobain's a really great guitar player." I think if anything, people are calling him overrated because people tend to take his songwriting talent and project that onto his guitar playing, making his guitar playing seem better than it was. Members noisebloom
I personally think it's Slash. I know many will disagree, and that's fine. I just don't think he's in the rareified air with the all-time greats. He had some strong success in the past with GNR, but that was in his 20s.
