  1. Remember this is a gear forum. Look at the sub-forums: they are broken down by gear component just like the owners online shop. The discussions are about gear, the heated discussions are about the political and economic background to gear, the reviews are all for gear, the ads are all for gear.... This is not a music forum. There is nothing to facilitate uploading, sharing, commenting on or critiquing music. If it were, it would be different, but then it would be different.
  2. I like the idea. My right to free speech is constantly being impinged upon by people who disagree with me. Chastise them, censor them and then ban them and everything would be improved immesurably. Please take this into consideration.
  3. You may want to check your truss rod. I had someone bring me a very stiff feeling Strat fairly recently. Adjusted the truss rod and did a few other minor things and it felt great. Not sure how yours is set up but I can't imagine .010 on a Strat being very heavy. How would adjusting the trussrod make a difference to the string tension?
  4. Try the Ernie Balls. The 2215's are taper wound with light gauge top (fretting) and heavy gauge bottom (over the pickups). You get the dynamics of the heavier string with the playability of a lighter gauge. Um No. Skinny top, heavy bottom just means the gauges vary from the standard set. 10-52 rather than 10-46.
  5. How are the saddles on the P90 guitar shaped? I suspect that they are not barrel type saddles like on your other guitars. I am persuaded by this argument.
  6. Everything is political. But even if you don't agree with it, you have to admit that it has the merit of being grammatically correct. Well if you wanted to get picky, you've missed a couple of apostrophies.
  7. I guess it's a matter of semantics. It's only 'overpriced' if people won't pay those for it. It's only overrated if folks something based on its ratings or hype, then find it doesn't live up to expectations. Guitars like the 1984 EVH jobbie, the copy of Clapton's Blackie, Harrison's Gretsch reissue, Andy Summers' tele... they sold quite a few copies of all of them. If something is priced beyond what YOU want to pay for it, well... it's just priced out of your comfort zone. Ferrari's for example. They sell pretty much every one they build, and in many instances, the entire production run is sold before the first one leaves the factory. They are expensive and they are extravagant, but they are not overpriced. On the other hand, for a number of years while Ford still owned Hertz, they would intentionally build more of the Taurus model than they were going to sell to actual customers. They knew this and intentionally did it anyway so they could claim the Taurus as the #1 best selling car. They'd sell the leftovers to Hertz then a few months later, would clear them out as last year's model for a little over half off the sticker price. That means the Taurus was overpriced and Ferrari's are priced properly. It's just economics. So, is something introduced at a high price and then discounted over its lifecycle to be considered overpriced on launch or not?
  8. I was going to say exactly this. Why he is not your personal favorite has absolutely nothing to do with why he is or isn't the rest of the would've favorite. Usually when we are talking about greatest of "all time", we are more talking about the collective whole would've favorite and not evilminstrel from L.A.'s personal favorite. Otherwise the title would have been, is Rd your personal favorite, or something to that effect. He had zero top 10 albums in the UK.
  9. The problem I have is that there is not a single piece of his work which I can actually listen to all the way to the end. I didn't listen to it then and cannot listen to it now. My mother has never heard of him. Nor have my kids.
  10. If I didn't read internet articles about it, I wouldn't have known the difference. I would have figured weight differences to be due to the plank of wood they used. So I guess I don't care, as long as the guitar sounds good. Yep!
  11. I like Johnny Thunders playing. I dislike the whole concept of signature equipment. Especially for people who are dead and therefore unlikely to benefit much from the procedes.
