I'm very sad by the news of Johnny's passing. I only knew Leapardstar on HC. Sometimes, he showed a little bit of his sensitive side or a hint of sadness. But, mostly he came across as a very nice guy who wanted everybody to be happy. I'll miss having him here!

He's posted a few clips of his music over the years. I was aware that he's been in a few bands. But, there's one of his solo tunes that I find particularly appropriate for this occasion because it captures some of Johnny's emotional melancholy. Also, the title is very ironic, "No Luv For Me." Obviously, with all the responses here, we all know that nothing could be further from the truth. We loved Leopardstar!

Thank you very much for that jr. That was very touching.

Like many here, working full time, raising a family, I just don't find time to really get to know some of the folks around here. I knew Leopard for his Aslan ratings and his kind spirit and though we had some correspondence, had never really checked out his clips before. What soulful tone and phrasing - really reflective and deep. Sorry you had to suffer my friend. Now your spirit is free to soar with your music brother.

RIP Johnny, I cherish your memory, and will miss you.

I'm a bit slow on catching up.

This is the first I read of this...after I had seen 'RIP Leopardstar' on someones sig. I was shocked to say the least....
Leopardstar was always there and had a kindness about him that resonated through his Aslan ratings. One thing I will surely miss and believe it or not I actually felt the ratings were always spot on.
I am very saddened by the news and sorry to hear about his passing.

Sincere and heart felt condolences, I find it amazing that someones thoughts and words on a forum in cyberspace can leave such an impression on people they have never met. I guess thats a testiment to the kind of guy he was.

RIP sadly missed.

I did a search on "leopardstar" in wikipedia. It references a children' book series called "Warriors". My guess is this is where Johnny got the "handle" - although this is just my guess.

It looks like "Warriors" is a very complex series of books about the adventures, and conflicts of cat clans. It's all about cats.

This is a terrible tragedy. I came back onto HC last night and saw this. Like MHUK, I couldn't think of the right thing to say, and I still can't.

But it would be terrible not to say something. I didn't have too many interactions with LS, but just from the posts of his I read (and mostly agreed with), he was a great guy. The best kind of guy, because I never saw him pick a fight, or even get provoked into a fight on here. Mature, levelheaded, good natured, and kind. He and Aslan will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Mrs. Leopardstar.

That's a good guess. However, Johnny already gave us the correct answer.

"Why this name?

this a name I have used for a long time. one of my hobbies is astronomy, leopardstar refers to sun spots"

Thanks for the background on this. I did recall astronomy was a hobby - I did not get the astronomy connection to the name "Leopardstar". I appreciate understanding the connection there.

SOT - but now I am getting intrigued in the "Warrior" Cat series. I wonder if Johnny knew of that connection as well. I know he had cats. Well, maybe we will never know.
