Members GAS Man
I would most likely slam a big barred A chord at the 5th fret and give it one of these \m/
Members DeepEnd
do you mean 0 0 2 2 0 X or 0 reminds me of a tom petty type vibe, including the bottom E sounds cool Lately I've been messing around with E Em7 Aadd9 E. I need to work it into a song eventually.

Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted June 13, 2016 Moderators Share Posted June 13, 2016 Open A major. Greatest chord ever. For the same reason as you. Angus. Slash's go to chord when he picks up a new guitar apparently
Members soundcreation
It just works. 2nd fret....lots of space....simple finger position that doesn't require much thought (not that the other open chords do either...but still...it's the easiest in my book) and it just roars. Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted June 13, 2016 Moderators Share Posted June 13, 2016 I should say that from a personal perspective, my favourites differ for what I'm doing. Dmaj I use when I've just installed some new pickups, and to listen to the bridge and neck and check height adjustment for volume equivalence. Cmaj, I use for middle position on two buckers or two P90 or the middle pickup on a Strat. I'll also go for Gmaj to see how ice picky a bridge pickup is

Members catscurlyear
one of the last bands i was in we used to tune to Eb ,whenever i hit an open A chord and let it sustain, it always reminded me of the begining of van halen`s eruption. Members Danhedonia
D minor is child's play. Try waltzes in C minor - and keep that head out of the oven. Sadder n' sad.
Members onelife
Try this some time and see what you think... 5 x 5 6 7 0 That's what I've been playing lately due to some recent mobility issues in my hand - but without the open string. I usually play it with the root somewhere between the fifth and seventh frets. I used to be an open A guy but I'm more about altered and extended now. Members onelife
If I am reading it right, it's the fifth string that is being muted.

Members Grant Harding
In tab the 6th string is usually at the bottom. I play about 98% without music, so I could be wrong.

Members catscurlyear
i`d always put low notes at the bottom in any visual description . but i can see where you are coming from cause when you look at your fretboard when you are playing it does appear that way . a friend pointed out , he once watched a guitar tutorial with the tv screen upside down and the fretboard on the screen appeared to him the correct way round because thats how we guitarists see the neck from our own point of view ,he said he could understand what the guy on the upsidedown screen was doing easier. Members onelife
I tried it with the sixth string on the bottom. to mute the second string I used my 1st finger to fret the third string while muting the second, my 2nd finger to fret the first string, 3rd finger on the fourth string and pinky on the fifth.
