apparently it's Roger Mayer Octaivia 24 seconds in (although, I don't really hear it but i can't say i'm that familiar with the pedal).... given to him by Kevin Shields, and once belonged to Hendrix.... is how the story goes.

Any popular Muse song (including "Uprising") was most likely made with a Fuzz Factory.

 

John Mayer uses boutique crap, and though some of his songs are famous they aren't necessarily great.

 

James Valentine (the guitarist for Maroon 5) uses some boutique effects.

 

There must be others I'm missing...
