Hey all, Last week was that dreaded day, yes, that's right, the anniversary of my hatching. (Double nickles.... sigh) So of course, I needed some new guitars to cheer me up.

Now, I love me some hollows. And ever since I picked up a D'Angelico in GC one day, feel totally and insanely in love, and wanted one... BAD! Just, couldn't quite afford the $1500 USD they were asking for a Chinese guitar. But the hunger was still there.... So imagine my happiness when I saw this on Feebay a week before that dreaded day. A D'Angelico EXL-1SH. Yes, it had no parts. Yes, as you can see, it has suffered a severe headstock break, and was repaired. Very solid repair, that the pretty work hadn't been done yet. that's cool, I can do pretty. It will just have to wait till around October, when the temp and humidity drops below 90. (Florida SUCKS for refinish work!)

So here she is, the day she came in the door. ummm, Did I mention it was $124.95 SHIPPED!!!!!!

Like I said, it's the pretty work that's going to take the time. So, of course I had to see if the repair is strong and sturdy, right? And the only way to do that, was to go thru the parts drawer, and see what I had. Which, by the way, was everything but a pick guard. (It's a BIG drawer!) So I had to cut a pick guard for the beast. Not a big issue, did it a few times before with various degrees of success. This one, with the mounted controls..... on the lower end of the "degree of success". HATE the knobs, but it's what I had, and will be re-doing the pick guard with the thumb wheel pots on the side of the pick guard. Here she is, in one piece more or less.

now, during the hatching celebrations, my wife and I went to Vegas, and of course, hunted thru pawn shops. After looking at countless Paul's SG's, Gretsch's, I saw this in a shop. it's a 1997 Peerless made Epiphone Casino! Great neck, wonderful tone, and dang, she's pretty. Hope you enjoy!

Bro, I could put together about 3 or 4 guitars with the parts I have. When I have the spare funds, I shop for parts I may or may not use.

It's amazing how those pickups multiply! You put a set in a drawer, 3 months later, you have like 4 or 5 sets, that you don't remember when or where they came from!
