  1. IIRC, Gordys were built in the UK [Gordon Smith Guitars?]. I don't think I have ever seen one in person, or even seen a sale listing for one in the USA. As to the value? As Gardo so eloquently put it, the value is for whatever you can sell it. Without any basis for comparison, I don't think we can give much assistance here unless one of our UK or Euro forumites has some insight.
  2. During our second 'rehearsal', when she explained her key preference, I only had one guitar, but I dropped it a half step while she was still talking.... apparently none of her other past accompanists had ever taken that approach...maybe I'm lazy...but it worked out pretty well I keep my Martin 12 and another acoustic tuned to D to accommodate my voice as well, rather than relearning scads of songs and most horn and keyboard players appreciate that I'm actually playing in C, not D I also came to dislike capos over the years, so although I own half a dozen, I couldn't tell you where any of them are ATM...πŸ˜‰
  3. Several years ago, for a while, I backed a lady vocalist who insisted everything be in Eb...it was 'her key' [it actually wasn't, she was far better in C] so I would just tune down one guitar rather than re-learn the songs...most of which were in Emi for some reason...she really liked minor keys. When I would chart for my band, I used the 'Roman' numbering system, rather than actual chords, so we could change keys pretty easily.
  4. I'd rather get it with the full vax and booster than without... But I have no intention of getting it. Are you serious? Does the flu kill 5.5 million people world wide? Blame the news media? Are you kidding? This would have to be a conspiracy of impossible proportion to involve the international news media, WHO, every government on earth... FACT: No, a million people have not died in this country that were vaxed...where do people find this nonsense? FACT: Only 858000 Americans have died, most in the time before the vaccine was available. FACT: Vaccinated people make up less than 1% of deaths since the vaccine became available. Spreading disinformation here is not permitted. Perhaps you need to look into some serious actual research before you post ridiculously inane claims about something that you obviously have no understanding. But you will have to do that somewhere else...because you...are ...toast!
  5. Apparently you did. Welcome to Harmony Central...have a look around!
  6. Someone here has a .gif of a penguin slapping another penguin as their avatar...you should negotiate for that one...
  7. you can copy and past a pic, or link it. Something like this? https://reverb.com/item/81641-1957-harmony-hollywood-h37-archtop Condition on used guitars is critical, so pics of any damage should be included.
  8. actually...it ended several years ago...but thanks for sharing....
  9. Freeman has such marvelous toys.... ...and a radio with a cassette player....😁
  10. BTW...there is a 'thing' now, called 'winning the day', which is based on the 'likes' you accumulate in a 24 hour period. It will show in your profile as 'you last won the day [date]...'I don't know what it says if you have never won, though...oddly I have won the day more than once [6 times! the last time was 11/8/2021], and didn't even know it! You would think they would send you a notice like they do when you move up a badge level, but no.
  11. cancelled..again 2 years running...last year, I understood, this year I was not happy..we didn't even get to keep the deposit [long story]
  12. Thanks, Shaster, and right back at ya! I don't like to whine, but once again my NYE 'sideman gig' was cancelled [the day before xmas eve]...and they did not let us keep the deposit...dirty trick, IMHO, even though my piece would not have been very much [5% of 10% ain't worth arguing over]. This is an ersatz 'small big band' made up mostly of 'road warrior' horn players, and old guys like me who can read and follow a chart...a dying breed apparently. No rehearsals, we all have the charts ahead of time, we ask questions where the charts are ambiguous [and many are ancient photocopies of ancient photocopies......last year I offered to re-do the worst ones to be told, 'don't bother'...other guys have forwarded clearer versions, thankfully]; but as I am also a 'featured vocalist' in this group, I should get two cuts, right?😜 This actually came out of the jam I was hosting a few years back that catered to horn players [I co-led the jam band with the sax player/vocalist], and originally they wanted me to 'front' the 'small big band' thing, as I did with the jam band, but I declined. I deferred the 'leadership' to my buddy, the bassist, who is a Grammy winning songwriter, currently living off royalties for a rap 'standard' he penned decades ago...that keeps getting put into films and tv shows...he ain't complaining.πŸ˜‰
  13. You music director should have known if he/she were mic-ed...and the sound guy should have caught it much sooner...like the 1st bar....I'd fire them both...πŸ˜‰ I'm going to assume this was intended as crossed voice leading...what chord preceded the 'G7 no third' and what chord did it lead to? the G7 'with no third' is because in F major there is no G major, and the 'b' in Gmajor would be dischordant... playing a Gm7 [the ii7] won't do it, either...but by not having a third, then the chord isn't a 'G7', and was likely transcribed as that by a lazy person...typically when I see these chords, I ignore them and play whatever triad they indicate...here it would be a 'g', a 'd' and an 'f'...
  14. I have a SuperChamp XD, the 1st iteration. Great sounding little amp, but with some frustrating limitations...and not particularly reliable for gigging.
  15. Thanks, good luck, and please comeback and tell us about the Tanglewood once you get time with it!
  16. I strongly suggest you take someone with you who is far more experienced in determining the condition, quality and playability of the instrument. If that is not possible, see if you can get the current owner to agree to having the guitar checked out by a local shop.
  17. dang...just looked and agree, just a 2 con/shield and hot, standard Gibson ...your eye, bp, was better than mine...it does appear in that pic that the Neck volume is mis-wired.... lots of messy solder/wire work in there...no offense, but as a [formerly] NASA certified solderer, I am picky....πŸ˜‰
  18. but that is the essence of a solo gig...everything else is just 'lipstick on the pig'...IMHO...
  19. I don't dispute that. As I said, I have imported guitars from Asia, and some were outstanding. I still have one a/e and one hollowbody jazz guitar from my attempt. I sold the rest...my former partner still has a couple too. But that said... My concern is the guitar's current condition. If it is over 15 years old, has it been properly 'stored'? Is it dried out? Is the neck okay? Is the bridge still properly attached to the body? I can't tell any of that from the pics on Fb. The owner in the Fb ad obviously knows NOTHING about the 'care and feeding' [let alone playing] of an acoustic guitar, therefor I would be somewhat concerned. 😎
  20. you may have better luck asking Fishman if by phone, ask for 'Larry'...
