Members Tokihatsu
Yep. That's why shredders have no soul Though there are, I believe, shredders who can shred, but choose to play better than average shredding by incorporating more than 2 notes ascending the blues scale, thus re-adding the soul into their own sound which is somewhere around shred - suck + awesome = Luke JaegerxD
Members Ancient Mariner
Ah, soul. Unfortunately this is almost true of Gary Moore: it's like he can squeeze a huge amount of meaning into a single long note, then forgets to put any into the gazillion he plays when he does a quick shreddy bit in a blue number. Members JoshIsNumber2
It's all about the number of frets that you have on your guitar. If you have less than or equal to 22 frets, then you have emotion. If you have 24 or more, then you're a robot player.

Members PlectrumPete
Tempo is not the same as number of notes per second.
Members Burgess
You can either play well or you can't and tempo, soul or notes per second have nothing whatsoever to do with it.Some can. Some can't.It's always been that way and it will always be that way.
Members caveman
I play crap fast and I play it slow. Smells/sounds about the same at any speed.
Members Brian May
Nah you can get 2.3 notes per second and still have soul. Only just though.
Members jrockbridge
Robert Johnson sold his soul to the Devil at the crossroads. He became a blues legend. Therefore, you don't need soul to play great blues. As to this concept that you can lose your soul by playing fast, it sounds like new age BS to me. If true this negates the Devil's role in the blues as well as the concept of "selling your soul for rock 'n' roll." Blasphemy!!!
