  1. I'm not a Journey hater by any stretch but I have to admit, Schon was who came to mind as I was clicking on the thread. me to!
  2. Maybe you should just play one for long enough for it to feel right. What you say is you like them for their looks and sound..so I'm guessing its only the feel that isnt right. If you play one enough it will feel right, but if your used to guitars that feel different to play and then you switch you may need to get used to the new feel. Eventually if you persist it will feel right.
  3. Oh no I cant believe I scored an own goal there...were did that n come from on the end of Rhythm in my post?? I fail. I know how to spell the word and when I jokingly pick up on others who cant for the first time in my life I do a typo error on the word. Excuse me whilst I go and find a hammer to bludgeon myself. Must learn to type slower and read through before posting.:lol:
  4. Rhythm is so hard that most guitarist cant even spell it. Have a look in this thread for proof. Remember children, Rhythm = Rythmn Has Your Two Hips Moving. Its very important that if you cant do it you can at least spell it.
  5. AC30!!! If you want massive clean headroom then gotta be the more powerful twin. But the new chinese Custom Classic AC30's are not to be compared with the legendry older english handwired ones. Though the 90's TBX's are pretty nice.
  6. The MIA is 3 pieces of alder, the MIM is easily 7+ pieces. I seriously doubt that..maybe on a Squier perhaps..i think Mexican Fenders are lower grade wood and have upto 5 pieces in a spread were USA use upto 3 pieces to a spread. My own view on things as someone that currently owns 4 USA Strats, has owned a few more over the years as well as 2 USA Tele's is one mindset that is actually changing. Before the Classic Player series I was adamant I wouldn't go lower than a USA Standard...now after playing the 60's Classic Player Strats I can honestly say I'd happily own one of those. Reasons for my USA preferences.... Better fit and finish. better woods/fewer blocks to a spread (spreads are what Fender call the blocks they glue together to get enough size to route a body) I prefer the pickups usually on the USA Strats/Teles as the Mex ones are usually ceramic and a bit hotter/harsher. Prefer the bridges on USA Fenders. Hardcase included...which if you get a mex is an extra expense to add to equalise them in a comparison!! 1 extra fret! Thats like 1 note higher x 6 ie 1 note higher per string! How spinal tap is that?
  7. As long as I can have my Strat HSS then I'll go with that...cos its all round more versatile. I own 4 Strats 3 HSS and 1 SSS with Clapton mid boost, and a LP....and several other guitars but these are the relevant ones. For me as someone that learned to play on a Strat copy then got a real Strat and played the first 10yrs of my 20yrs of playing the feel of a Strat is engrained within me now - it feels like home. I love both guitars but the feel of a Strat and its all round versatility when you have a bucker in the bridge I think are hard to beat. If one the other hand the Strat had to be SSS or a LP then in that case I would go LP cos the beefy sound that LP's excell at is more useful for me as I like to rock!
  8. Just a very exciting rhythm and lead player - recognisable. Flashy but melodic and as he played in the context of song it for me anyway never became tedious wanking like many after him were/are. Many followed but weren't musical like Ed was. Simplez.
  9. I have only read the OP. Now it begs the question wins what?
