Members Undertaker4
Brothers in Arms, Invisible Touch, and Eliminator are all great examples of how the 80s production style massacred great bands. Compared to those same bands' 70s productions, it's like night and day. Anyways, I listened to it this morning, and I'm pretty sure the best rock album of the 1980s was:

Members fu2jobu
I think perspective has a lot to do with it. I "came of age" in the 80's and think the 90's and current music sucks for the most part. If you came of age in the 60's or 70's I can see where you'd look down your nose at the music that followed. I came of age in the 80's and still think they sucked as compared to the 60's, 70's and 90's. Todays music? Pretty much like this thread - a smattering of music which I agree is good but most of it is not interesting/memorable.

Members bsman
Just my opinion, but 90% of these albums being listed are not rock music per se. You must have a very narrow interpretation of what is "Rock". OTOH, I think rock is a huge tent that encompasses everything from some hillbilly music in the 50s to synthesizer music of the 90s. Rock is the ultimate democracy of music...

Members k tone
Just my opinion, but 90% of these albums being listed are not rock music per se. People posting in this thread who had some formative years in the 80's are putting up good music that came from that era. Not a big deal really and it has jogged my memory for some groups that I had forgot about.

They seem to all be in some sub genre of Rock to me. If you could tell me which are "Rock" maybe I could find some better examples. I am willing to admit that I apparently don't know what rock music is.
