Lessee...well, closest to me I would have to say that Doug (dUg) Pinnick from King's X is from Joliet...and I believe Disturbed made their bones not too far away (I may be wrong...)

On the State level, {censored}: Styx (Chicago), Cheap Trick (Rockford), REO Speedwagon (Champaign-ish), Billy Corgan, Eddie Vedder...all I can think of atm.

I grew up on the west side of Chicago, so I guess I belong to this clan

I grew up in North Dakota. The population of the whole state is about equal to a small villiage in Ohio. Our claim to fame is Lawrence Welk.

When I turned 30 I realized I was free to leave...

Hahaha Its true! But I have to ask, why did you go from one barren tundra to another barren tundra?! (Iowa... which is actually where I wanna move)

I also forgot to mention I spent three years in Seattle so all those musical people from there.

I grew up in Pueblo, Colorado, which at the time was a vibrant music town. A few folks got marginally famous from there including Blaine Reineger - Tuxedo Moon and several solo CDs. I remember him playing bass and violin in church.

I now live in Colorado Springs which is home to Johnny Smith - the best jazz guitarist of his time. He used to run a music store, and I'd see him occasionally. I saw him play once at a local club about 20 years ago. It was an unannounced visit, but I was lucky enough to be tipped off in advance.

Chapel Hill, Greensboro and Southern Pines for me:
Chris Stamey
Southern Culture on the Skids
Squirrel Nut Zippers
Ben Folds Five
Superchunk
The Connells
Flat Duo Jets

My Southern accent is totally gone now. I can't even fake it anymore.

Here in Claremont, the only ones I know of are Ben Harper and, I'm told, Buckethead. Frank Zappa spent a large chunk of his youth in Pomona and ran a restaurant in Upland in the early Sixties.
