  1. tough call Mr Woody. Hope you all find strength in memories
  2. Just like your dad said, never trust a guy with two first names. Same thing goes with forum handles that start with JJ or TV or whatnot. Before I cast my vote, I'd like to know exactly what the JJ stands for. It could be important. Just Justice Pistols.
  3. It's hard explain the difference...but it's not the same ...maybe the best way to explain it would be to say, when your watching the typical musical, you know that overwhelming sense of camp is part and parcel to the whole production. It's camp for camps sake, at least to me....Mercury doing camp on record and in concert is a fleeting thing at best, he always comes back to GENUINE rock intensity at some point on a record or in a show, whereas a musical only has genuine camp thru and thru... make sense? mmmm I see your point but I always saw Freddie as permanently and deliberately camp. It was the appeal of the band and the name, of course. Compare his stage strut with, say, Jagger.....oh, not a good comparison.....Bono.....oooops............Plant........possibly...... there must be a real rocker front man somewhere......apart from Meatloaf who was stage theatrical rock to the core without a hint of camp..
  4. yea it's just hard to imagine any scenario where the outrageously intentional campiness of musicals works with blood and guts hard rock. they're just two different worlds...might be entertaining for other reasons (performances, vibe, etc) though forgotten Freddie already huh?
  5. I was going to reply, but it's 3:30 am here, and I have to work in the morning. Catch back up then.......................The REAL Rocker. stayed up until 330 am for this????????????????
  6. Things I never knew about Steven Seagal.... 1) - He has helped train Brazilian mixed martial artists Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida. Silva, who is the reigning UFC Middleweight Champion, went on to knock out Vitor Belfort with a kick, in their fight at UFC 126 in February 2011,[10][11] and Machida also credited him for helping him perfect the crane kick that he used to knock out Randy Couture at UFC 129 in May 2011.[12][13] (WIKI) 2) - He plays the blues.
  7. at least he didn't make her pretend she was BB King.........................
  8. is he trolling when he blabs about what his girlfriends were like in the sack, d'ya think? the mark of a man!
  9. I stayed away for a few months because I was busy actually creating some music and playing my guitars, but the discussions here have gotten pretty meaningless. Mine included. Doesn't this happen every year around when school's out for the summer?
  10. Chances are getting better by the week that you might end up being the next guitarist for G'n'FR. that would be a good gig for a drummer to move on to.
  11. Not usually. I play because it's fun. If it stops being fun, I don't play (which hasn't happened for a while). Then it starts being fun again. this. I also try some Phil X demos. If that doesn't spark something, I just take the break. Had some issues during the past year that took away the motivation for long periods but now those are past, it is gradually coming back again.
  12. people actually pay attention to Rolling Stone? only people who want to know what they should be wearing. My first thought? There are a million things more useful to do.
  13. To a wealthy person, spending $4000 on a guitar may not be a big deal. . especially if you are the Wall Street banker whose secretary faked out 6.5 m bucks from checking accounts and he said "well when you get 160 million a year, you don't check your statements too carefully". Going back to OMGNGD now.....
  14. Its looks just like that but has mock aligator skin tolex on top and headstock. I fell in love with it at the store and played it for a while through a really nice Bogner. My wife and I were getting a divorce and she was buying me out of the house but she came up short. She knew I wanted that guitar so she bought it for me on credit to make up the amount she came up short(obviously it was friendly split). Long story short we never got a divorce, but if that didn't happen believe me I never would have bought a $2,500 guitar. This is purely a hobbie to me. That was like my dream guitar, but when I got it home and it kinda of fell short to my $700 Fender Toronado (of course I had it refretted and put Burstbucker pros in it which bumped it up over $1000) I was a little bummed. I think I didn't play around with it enough. I was always grabbing my Tele or Fender. Then I thought what the hell everybody keeps praising these GFS pickups maybe that will spark my interest in the guitar again, but actually just getting on this forum and having some people telling me I was crazy made me take another look at the Duesenberg. After fiddling with the pickup height and really playing it I am starting to fall in love with it. And that's my story thanks for listening. Also' thanks for giving me the most posts for any thread I ever started. I like that story. I would say she's a keeper but other peoples relationships are (and should be) a mystery. Good luck to both of you.
  15. For all the people who weren't driven away by 2.0, all the arguing will get the rest. 2.0 has done a service by letting some people make unpleasant asses of themselves. Some of those now carried it back to 1.0. Fortunately 1.0 and 2.0 have ignore facilities so we can choose not to see their assholes unless they are quoted.
  16. Valid. But I go for ringside seats when someone gets into it with either EG or Zemmy. They can handle it, and it's quite entertaining hey ho there's two more on my ignore list. Makes it much easier to read the threads.
  17. what even this???????? well it was free...........................
  18. I don't have any tattoos. If any of my 3 kids plan on getting one, they better count on marrying someone rich. There's a clause in my will that states that after I die, all three of them have to have an examination by two independent dermatologists who have to certify them tattoo free. Any heirs determined to have a tattoo(s) will be written out of the will and the money gets split by those who don't. If all 3 have tattoos, the money is placed into a trust for their children if they ever have any, to which the same rules apply. It's an amount in the low 7 figures so a bit of a motivator. quoted because its always worth showing how strange people can be.................... maybe he felt threatened by someone's tattoos when he was young.
  19. Just out of curiousity, what do you people plan on doing when you're old and wrinkly and realize the stupid metal tattoo you got is {censored}ing stupid can't believe no one posted this.......... .........Trent and JJ when they are my age. anyway I am already old and wrinkled and I have no tattoos. Old guys with new tattoos look plain pitiful. Old guys with old tattoos look cool. In my opinion.
  20. tattoos make ya look all badass and scary I wouldn't want to tangle with you lot pppppfffffffffffttttttttttttt
  21. I would ask him if what he really thought of Clapton and Beck as players. We already know that. Meeting Clapton was a precondition he put on coming to London and he tore it with Beck as well. Unless you mean what does he think of them now....which might be interesting or surprising..... I would ask what he would be playing in the current music spectrum.
  22. stupid questions get stupid answers stupid magazines get stupid readers life's too short for hating just look at the pictures.
  23. Nah - more like a vanity thread. you should start a collection of repeated comments edge sucks Jack is a poseur Jimmy is a god why did they choose XXX to be in it with YYY and ZZZ? after about ten threads, folks are running out of new stuff to say...........
