Members Steadfastly
Personally, I would buy a nice humbucker equipped guitar and put in the Duncan P-rails with the triple shots rings. The p-90's are the best part of those pickups. Even if you barely used the rail or the humbucker, they'd be there if you need them.More choices of humbucker equipped guitars. If I were going for the p-90 only, I'd look at Reverend, used EBMM Axis SS MM90, US Masters/ Regenberg (whatever that model that Warriorpoet just got), and the aforementioned Hamer. Those P-Rails seem to be getting more and more acceptance. Maybe it's just taken awhile for them to get noticed.

Members johnny slag
Gibson Blueshawk has B90s very similar to P90s. Semi hollow. The veritone switching system gives a super wide range of sounds from DanElectro to Old LPs.
Members sk8centilli
maybe the pic will post? The soapbar appearance of those cause a lot of confusion. They are not P90's, they are MFD's.

Members SPONGEBOB
Get a clean used Hamer USA P 90 Special... They are the best of the best as far as P 90 guitars go...You'll have enough left over to buy a tube amp as well.

Members sleewell
LOL!!!!!!!!!(also-despite the upgrades, the price seems a little steep) agreed, what seems fair? 350, 375, 400? dont want to lowball and just get rejected. god, i was set on a SG classic but this guitar seems sweet and i would have money leftover to upgrade the pickups in my tele. Members d_dave_c
I used to own a PRS SE Soapbar II, and here are my thoughts: - beautiful guitar - great feeling neck - really nice gig bag - lacked sustain - lackluster tone Now maybe the lollars would take care of the negatives. I traded mine for a semi-hollow that I love. Make sure you play one first.
Members weeladdie
I love my PRS SE Soapbar, previous owner upgraded the P-90's to Skatterbranes Firebranes. Sounds great, feels great, fits me like a glove...
Members Mel Cooley
I just got one of these. The four piece back doesn't harm anything. It's a very good, very lively guitar with great P-90s. They're in the $800-$900 range.
Members richey888
I've always wanted one of these - Gibson Les Paul Faded Double Cut. Sweet guitar! I love mine! About half your budget:
Members CoqBelliqueux
i love this guitar: Wine red LP Special, Tweaker and 360, I don't know what else to say.
Members Mechanoized
I'm gonna plug the local builds and suggest a DiPinto Jr. I picked up one of these a little over a month ago and it's the best playing guitar I've ever owned. If you look around you can get a used one with a neck pup for around $400, usually less.
Members fuzztone
Add another vote for a LP special, I absolutely love mine. +3 for the Les Paul Special Awesome guitar, the one I got at GC has a one piece mahogany body. The P-90s just ooze tone. Cost me $943 with a Gibson Thinbody case.

I really like the SE Soapbars (actually the whole SE line) so I personally think even the asking price is "worth" it. My SE is my number 1. I love the chunky neck and it oozes tone. I hear nothing but great things about Lollars so I think that guitar must be awesome. Here's mine:
