Members Henry Path
Hi there! That JBD-400 is a work of art, John. I read somewhere you wanted them to be available at $1000 or so. Shame they're not - I'd have one like a shot, even though I'd have to import one to the UK.

Members etawful
Some interesting tidbits that I didn't see . . . if we want to talk "modern" insofar as electronics or technical innovation go: Moog Guitar Tyler Variax: Fret King Supermatic: Ernie Ball Game Changer:

Members Ancient Mariner
Modern design seems to mean a lot of different things. I really like this Giffin model: My xtSA is 'modern' in that it has synth control and a piezo pickup as well as locking tuners, 2 point trem and a non-traditional body shape ('scuse the embarrassing pic). Loved First Act's Sheena shape, but not the neck profile. Likewise the Godin Radiator. What counts as modern? This is Tele-shaped, but has a one piece neck & body made of Vibracell and a piezo bridge. My JJ Goldtop is a modern (1990s) take on a Les Paul Junior. And my Washburn A20V is a completely unique design, though created in the late 70s.
Members call me rob
The acoustic is an asymmetrical design. Its has a lutz spruce top with cocobolo back and sides. The electric is a thinned down Rg style guitar. It has a Koa top with Koa and macassar ebony binding.
Members TheFigurehead
I don't know what that is, but I like it. I've always been a fan of the Ibanez Reb Beach model. I wish the horns were less pointy, though. And the Steinberger M series, which the Reb Beach reminds me of They both kind of remind me of the Fender Musiclander, which, though old, looks modern to me. I'm also a huge fan of the Breadwinner body shape, which isn't really modern either.
Members Steadfastly
I like the looks of the 200 and 400, even though I hate blue guitars. I guess the contrast with the beige/ivory makes me forget about the blue.

Members bubkus_jones
As much as I think the guy (or at least his public persona) is a dingus, the "Zachary" Z2-T is a really interesting design that I'd like to try one day.

Members yanktar
I'm boring. Really boring. Between this (mine is white) and the two in my avatar (especially the Jazzmaster), I like those solid body designs best. Hollow body? Nothing like an original D'Angelico. Acoustic? Whatever sounds good.
Members mdog114
The Parker is the only odd shape guitar I've really had the chance to hang on my shoulder and actually play. For me, the guitar has to hang right for me to really want to play it, so I'd have to play the ones shown above. The Parker was nice. My Teles, Strats & 339 just hang so perfectly, I'd need to find something that surpasses what they offer. I like my LP, but unlike the others, sitting and playing is not that comfortable. I'm thinking of doing a hybrid Tele/Jazzmaster, but I need to sit with the body before I start the project. I don't want to assemble the guitar and find I don't like the body.
