Members fretless
TNT 130 was my very first amp circa 85 ??? , I think it weighed 400 pounds . I had it for many many years
Members Thumper
Better to ask 'Who has not had experience with a TKO or TNT?' Those amps are like P-basses. Everyone has played one, and many still do. They sound great, are dirt cheap used, and are heavy as f*ck.
Members Bogster
I had a friend in another band many years ago that gigged with a Peavey TNT115 regularly. I remember thinking how good it sounded. Not a noob amp at all in my book. If I could find a good deal on one, I'd snag it up.
Members sunburstbasser
I've used both. Tanks for sure. I disagree with other posters; they are loud but the tone has never been more than bland when I've used them or when I've heard others using them. Members Cliff Fiscal
Do you think a TNT be an improvement on my Yorkville Bassmaster XS400H?
Members LanEvo
My first amp in the mid-80's was a TKO-65. It was very heavy for it's size. Sound was good, but not great. It was very, very loud for it's rated power level. Louder than most 100-120W combos I've played. Honestly.
Members Thumper
I'd keep the Yorkie, unless you're unhappy with it and want something new.

Members gspointer
I think I started with a TNT100, solid adequate, meh tone.

Members W33nie
There;s one in my school. It's loud, that's about it. It has a punch and bright button. I never use the bright button, but always leave the punch. Not really happy with the tone, not very clear and kind of muddy. But I do run a PJ with flatwounds. Members ikestr
Ive used a combo 300 (whiteface with black widow 15") for over 10 years now, have done over 100 gigs with it and still use it as my home practice amp. I use a combo 210 (same as 300 just with 2 10's instead of a 15") in the band studio and I use a TVX 410 onstage. There is very little of the Peavey bass gear that I dont like. ikestr

Even a P/J with rounds or an H/H bass with Elixirs would not be any different. Trust me.
Members bnyswonger
I've been playing through one at a church gig for YEARS. They are capable of being heard and throwing a little bottom around, but the tone is numb.
Members Flatball
With all respect to those whose opinions differ, I had a TKO-75 for a long time and thought it was a piece of crap.
Members arf-boy
I've had TNT 130 for a decade and I'm just ready to trade up because the single 15 sounds a bit floppy to me on the melodic stuff I'm playing with a Dead cover band. I was given a TKO 115 and I'll keep that.
Members WashburnGuy
Had a TKO 115 for several years. No complaints.....nothing outstanding about it either though. I held up quite well and was a road warrior. As others have stated, heavy as hell!
Moderators ThudMaker Posted April 28, 2009 Moderators Share Posted April 28, 2009 Can't stand the tone personally. The Combo 115 OTOH I heard with a matching 115 on the bottom. The dude was playing a T-Bird. Very nice tone, but that box is quite deeper than the TNT/TKO, IIRC.
Members Bluescout
TKO 80 here. Really loud for a combo. Tone isn't great but you'll get heard.
Members Teletypist
Disclaimer: We are now Genz-Benz powered. For decades it was all Peavey for us - and they were just workhorse amps. My fav was the TNT130 - couldn't kill the sucker, only cost minimal $, and was "decent". No one ever complained about the sound, but: at 3AM this was a monster - twice lost it coming down stairs. Didn't really matter. And BTW: it's just 130W- but blew away everything else claiming at least double the power.
Members NashSG
I swear Peavey is in league with back crackers on the design of these amps. They weigh a ton, it doesn't come with casters and only has one way too small handle on top.
Members jonjohn
I had a tko80 for years. I didn't think it sounded to bad. And like Teletypist says , you can't kill them.Just wasn't loud enough for me
Members Thornton Davis
It will be interesting to hear how the new TOUR TNT 115 and TOUR TKO 115's that Peavey introduced at this years Winter NAMM sound. I'm hearing rumors that they're not going to be available until Sept-Oct now. TD
