Mrs. T. and I dined at a local Claim Jumper restaurant last night. The service was slow, the food was average, and we had to listen to some blow-hard in the next booth talk about himself for an hour. Then again, we paid with a gift card, so the meal wasn't a total disaster...

I'm enjoying a cold can of PBR as I type this.

I've eaten cheeseburgers for the last three days: Mad Max burger at Fanno Creek Brew Pub Friday; Bacon, Swiss, grilled onions & mushrooms at Renners' last night, and a works burger at the Lamplighter in SE PDX for lunch today. My colon will never forgive me...

I made choucroute for supper last night---sauerkraut and sautéd yellow onion, with German frankfurter sausages, smoked pork chops, and country bacon on top, baked in a covered casserole dish for two hours at 325 degrees. We had a nice Müller Thurgau (Shafer Vineyards, Forest Grove Oregon, 2006).

Fun day today. Mrs. Thumper and I went to the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey circus matinee at the Rose Garden in PDX. Next stop, Saint Mary's Romanian Orthodox Fall Church Festival off SE Stark for a Balkan lunch of beers, lamb, sausage, potato salad, peppers and really good fresh bread. We wrapped up with a trip to the food carts at SE Hawthorne and 12th St. Potato Champion serves a killer poutine.

I just did some yard work. I am now enjoying a Rolling Rock pounder.

I'm making a ghetto version of pho for supper tonight.

I had some Sir Francis Bacon bacon peanut brittle for desert at some friends' house tonight. Friggin' awesome.

First week of college is in the books. I'm {censored}in frazzled already. It will get better. I felt the same way when I went back to college at age 32 to get my teaching degree. Where are you going? Online, or attending classes?

I've had bacon twice so far today---with home fries, fruit and coffee for breakfast, and on a Five Guys bacon cheeseburger with grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, and jalapenos. If I do steaks tonight for supper, I'm doing bacon as a garnish.

I took Harley the Lab from Hell to the local dog park this morning. Everything was cool until two pups (a lab and a huskie, both regulars) got in a fight with me in the middle. I got each by the collar and hauled them apart---and my dumb @ss got bit on the right hand in the process. Out to the car for some antiseptic, a big band-aid and some ibuprofen, then back into the park. I don't think I'll be playing much bass for a couple days.

I had four yards of mixed loam and top soil dumped at my house. I spent three hours this morning hauling wheel-barrow loads all over my yard to fix erosion damage from my creek. I'm aching in places I didn't know I could hurt.

I only have sriracha. ;_; We go through a two bottles a month here. You will not find ketchup in our house. Hot sauce FTMFW.

Mac and cheese + hot sauce = yummy This. What's your favorite sauce for mac & cheese? El Yucateco Habanero here.

This is what I think of, when I think of Facebook. Except multiply this by 50 (or however many "friends" you have)... When my wife asks why I don't have a facebook, I'ma just tell her "I don't need one... I have HCBF." I will now eat a Jonagold apple...
