Arguments for Obama

Your parents must be extremely proud of you for raising a child who thinks they're ignorant simply because their political views are different than yours.

Ask your parents to join this discussion and let's hear what they have to say. It can then be determined if they're the stupid ones or not.

As to Obama, what's he done? Other than push for massive regulations, taxes, increase spending and the deficit, and add more government intrusion into every facet of life.

And I hate the use of the word "awesome". It's been beaten to death; usually by people who have not matured yet.

Awesome answer, dude! :thu:

Lemmesee... #1. So far, he appears NOT to be the anti-Christ we were warned about.

(Still thinking about #2)

Oh! Sorry....

Because he's soooooo cool, whatever. He's buff and he's cute, an' he's like got cool kids and like he's so bitchin' in those shorts! Like he is our first black president and like he's like cute and darling and like he cares for the little people, whatever. :thu:

They will get that.

Presidents seem to be an unpopular lot.
Obama took over a country in deep recession and something drastic had to be done. He was elected as the better man for the job, so why not give him a chance ?
Honest question as seen through the corner of my eye from a long distance.

I still run into people who don't like him because they claim he got elected because he's black.

Yeah, I'm sure he got elected on his track record, and huge list of accomplishments, right???

BTW, I don't recall any white junior Senators with qualifications similar to Obama's that were nominated - could you point them out to me???

I personally don't like him because he's a socialist gun grabber - being half black has nothing to do with it...

This is supposed to happen today and I think it's a good thing. :thu:

Obama's just fronting like he's a "gun-grabber" so all the real gun grabbers can go out and buy up all the guns and bullets (some say this is already happening... Yay!). That's a good thing in case Al Qaeda attacks again on our soil we'll have a well prepared redneck militia to git er dun!!!

I'm not sure I've ever seen more fear-mongering from the right... And it makes for good comedy.

I don't think it's a troll job - it's more a variation of a kid talking about how dumb his parents are...

Yeah, my parents used to be dumb too. Now I consult them on almost every big decision I make. Weird how that changes over time, huh?

What qualifications? Community activist? Absentee senator in state and fed legislature? :idk:

Sol Wolynsky(sp?) deciple?

Hell, we don't even know his birthplace nor are able to view his college transcripts.

Would any rep or Libertarian candidate be given the same non-scrutiny?

Would any of you employers hire someone who had 'no records' or 'sealed records' ?

He's keeping the evil military tribunals and he's now willing to hold certain prisoners indefinitely just like Bush but in a fairerer manner! He's fighting the ACLU in keeping possible prisoner abuse photos from the public! He's unwilling to release some of the secret memos on enhanced interrogation techniques (unfortunately only the ones that may show that it helped the country, not the ones that bash the other party). Glad I could help. :D

I recall it was Twain who said (paraphrased) 'the older I get the smarter they seem to be, it's strange. :D

Chances are they are as horribly uninformed and uninspiring as most people's political "thoughts."

But you don't know that. They could be One Percenters. The questions are worth asking. Good parents, regardless of party affiliation, generally have the best interests of their kids at heart. It's at least worth a discussion as to why they came to the conclusions they made.

He's not Bush.

Good enough for me.
:thu:

Interesting how the Democrats in Congress had no problem going along with Bush, but now that they control both Houses, when it comes to something as major as Gitmo, his own party has stopped him in his tracks. That should tell you something, but I'm guessing it won't.

I think it's funny how before he got elected, people were saying he couldn't win b/c he's black. And now, he won b/c he IS black? Which is it?

He was nominated because he was dashingly handsome and could read a teleprompter like nobody's bidness. :thu:

Both are wrong, because he's 1/2 black.

'Black' is pretty vague in American culture... he can have a white mom and still be black. It's just whether or not you signify as black, whether society at large perceives you to be black. And, re: Obama, it apparently does.

Thanks for the info and also remaining completely oblivious to my not serious post.;)

:o

I'm just saying, 'African-American' and 'black' aren't the same thing, really. Sure, he's hAlfrican-American (or whatever... even that's kinda confusing), but all black. Geez American society is weird about this {censored}.

Personally, I kind of like the guy. I like his style a bit. That said, I don't want his socialism, even if it benefits a poor boy like me. And I'm afraid he'll grab my guns. I'm also somewhat afraid that he has taken the reins of a country that will be coming back in a cycle and get all the glory for it. I find young people tend to be very idealistic and liberal. The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other peoples' money.

To the OP, if you need other people to tell you why he's great, maybe your parents aren't the ignorant ones. He's doing the liberal democrat thing so if you like that, he's great. If not, he sucks. I suggest doing some homework.
