Patricia - Guthrie Trapp

Angeline/Mambo Cheeks - Guthrie Trapp

Guthrie is my new favourite guitar player.

Give these a listen, he may become yours too.

Wow! Not just another pretty face. Talk about fluid drive. Fine backup, too! His version of "Patricia" shares a common vibe with Manuel Galban and Ry Cooder's version of the Perez Prado tune, but, dang, he makes a convincing challenge on their own turf.

Some kind of player!

I'm only finding one album (2012, Pick Peace). Anything else out there?

At the moment, Pick Peace is the only one I'm aware of. I bought it and highly recommend it. Every time I listen to it I just think wow, is that guy ever good.

There are some things on youtube that are worth watching. He does an interview with a Nashville TV show which is really good. There are also some intructional videos you can search out - I recall watching one where he talks about his passion for Hendrix' rhythm playing and does some demonstrations.

"Mariah" - This version is by the Smother's Brothers

Excellant! Thanks for posting.

Tom Smothers played the fool on that show but his musicianship was never in question.

Not wanting to derail the thread but here's the bit where they "go electric" ...

(the electric bit is about five minutes in if you want to skip to it)

Athena - The Who

Not the best audio quality... but I was at this show about 20 people from the stage!
