I was looking it up and found this link to Jameco:

Seems pretty simple, but I know there is usually more than one way to skin a cat and I wanted to know if this method has worked for you.

Also, the sell the stuff he uses for $50 (http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/sto...ductId=2113244) but I have no idea if that's about how much that stuff costs or if it is a mark up of a kit. idn_smilie.gif

Here are links to 2 tutorials I did on on making your own PCBs on 2 other forums.

Its all pretty much the same info on each forum although the second link has a few other details added.

I've been making my own PCBs for about 5 years now.

Can anyone in the UK recommend a cheapish one that's gonna last?

Not really cheapish, but....

Weller makes some top quality irons.

I've been soldering electronics since 1981 and Weller is my preferred choice of iron.

I had one that lasted almost 30 years (It died last year cry.gif )

Soldering Irons in the UK. I always recommend this, which is amazing. Replacement iron tips and even irons are reasonable. I have built several hundred pedals with this iron:

Used to be cheaper but still a good deal

Looks like a decent cheaper option

the beginnings of one.

what I hope will eventually be this:

that board is just the bare minimum so I can start interfacing with kinds of RAM, the ADC and the DAC. once I know what of those I'm using, I'll design another board with those directly on it.

such a looper is 25% hardware and 75% software.

Working on this:

6oVxB.jpg

It is a three-stager with two 3904s and a BC547. Has a gain control between the first and second stage, VR2 is connected between the emitter of Q2 and ground, and there is a volume control. It sounds huge, but also can get splatty and weird. I might add a sag control too. I just have it on the breadboard, so no cool enclosure shots yet. This is just the mockup.

Named after this:

Thinking of having two fully loaded Strat pickguards to swap between and I'm trying to work out a way I can swap them over without the need for a soldering iron.

Any ideas? It would just be linking up the input wires to the output jack so maybe there is some kind of socket I could solder to each end?

All kinds of ways, ball in socket connectors, terminals, lots of options.
