Members Ron Burgandy
What do you prefer and why? I prefer ESP for the following reasons. 1. Nicer tops (covered in 1/2" thick poly gloss finish) 2. Better woods available on more guitars (fitted with EMGZ for max suck) 3. Better stock pickups and hardware (Factory EMGZ for pure {censored} tone) 4. more neck joint options (You can play more notes with {censored}ty tone) 5. More models without teh gay trems (Yet, still plenty of gay trem options!) 6. Better all around quality ($1500 guitars with the quality level of $500 Schecters) 7. MORE TOANE! (Than their LTD line... by a hair) MOAR BETTER ANSWERZ!!!
Members MattACaster
I could actually go either way. Both company has models I like. I'm gassing for an RG470 or 570.

Members Exocaster
ESP, because I own two of their instruments vs. only one Ibanez. And oddly enough, none of those are superstrats or shredder-type guitars. ESP has more solid-body electrics that I like, with neck shapes more to my liking. I like their basses, too. I like Ibanez far more for acoustics and semi-/hollowbodies than I do for the RG and S-series stuff.

Members TheEsupremacy
I like them both about equally. I really love the fast action of a well built high end Ibanez though. Funny you should post this Chris. I'm going to buy a new guitar at some point this year and it's going to be either an Ibby or an E. I'm still undecided. Members ThrashensteiN
I like my Ibanez, but I find it far more comfortable to play my ESP. I love the models, and the neck profiles. The Thin U/Extra Thin U is pretty much perfect for my hand. I may put a Seymour Duncan Blackout AHB-2 in my Alexi 600 Scythe when I get it in March. Members Polaris20
Are you talking about the real Ibanez guitars made in Japan, or the cheap stuff made in Korea and Indonesia by Cort? Are you talking about real ESPs, or the cheap {censored} made in Korea? It's not really a good poll unless you're specific. I love my MIJ Ibanezes, but don't much care for the Korean or Indo crap. Members peavey_impact
ESP I owned a 1991 Ibanez RG560 that was heavily modified and to me it just lacked balls. I also didn't care for the feel of it. Wizard necks = failz. I do however own a USA custom shop Starfield that I LOVE but that's far from your typical Ibanez

If you want to sit and do the "weedly weedly" ibanez's are great. If you want something with serious balls that you can also shred on, ESP. Members 17 Tubes
I had an RG-550 (Purplish-red color changing- maple neck- oiriginal PUPS) I now have ESP-MII Deluxe I still have the ESP. Why would I keep the ESP and ditch the RG? Well, there's certainly a bit of a price difference...but in general they SHOULD be very similar guitars. It's a little less than double the cost but easily triple the "value". 1) Esp has Dimarzio's- Ibby has cheap chintzy crap 2) ESP has Decent Kahler Floyd. Ibby has cheap chintzy Ibby Floyd. Even the design of it was dumb, as the block screws didn't come out the back, but had to be gotten to in the middle of the trem. Dumb. Even the locking nut was cheap cheap cheap. 3) Overall construction MUCH better....more resonant, a better FEEL in hands and on body. RG feels like a toy in comparison. Even visually, the ESP LOOKS better. ' alt='>'> ' alt='>'> Also had this for a bit....would buy the ESP again and again over either Ibby or Charvel (import)...no matter cost. ' alt='>'> I guess I should be posting in thinkpad's "maple/rosewood neck" thread?

Members Marshredder
ESP's. I've had 3 Ibanez's and each time they were worse. These were high end ones too. Jesus, Ibanez's such SERIOUS ass imo. Terrible guitars.
