Members Grant Harding
That's a leading question. Like "Why are people from the east coast less attractive than those from the west." My answer to your original question is that the less money you have, the more chance you'll favour a more liberal and socialist government and extremely creative people don't often rake in the dough. Members Bobby1Note
Well, I guess you could call me an old fart (64). I'm also neither a "Liberal" nor a "Conservative", and I simply can't understand people who are willing to prejudice their votes, by pre-defining themselves as one, or the other. I vote for a candidate, and his/her platform,,,,, and not so I can label myself, in order to gain social acceptance into a group.I'm also Canadian btw. Members jamesp
Here's a sampling of answers, Dale. This one just got started, but I'm sure the Search function would find other threads. Filtering posters for age group would take some time, but that's research for ya. http://acapella.harmony-central.com/showthread.php?2968733-why-are-most-musicians-of-a-non-conseravtive-mind

After reading through the posts I am shaking my head. Another example of people using social media as an outlet for their anger and need to figuratively bash heads. Glad that never happens on this forum branch :-)

Members jamesp
Again, research is time consuming. Use filters. Also, beware your own confirmation bias. With higher S/N ratios it's easy to miss what you're not looking for.

I actually was very appreciative of the link. Thanks!

I didn't look at the date on it, but maybe someone saw it here and thought it was better to reword it and place it over there. I'm sure there are forum members who look at all of the forums daily. Members Michael Martin
I'd say it's a case of "follow the money". Kind of like academia, which is my home turf. Academics and artists prefer statist regimes that tax everyone in order to support the arts (or academia), along with lots of other things deemed to be socially good. I think we are all selfish at heart--human nature--so we trend politically toward what sustains our selfish passions. People who want to make music for a living need a patron, whether you're a lute player in Florence in 1560 vying for a regular gig at the Medici palazzo/villa or an enterprising songwriter in 2012 angling for an NEA grant. You'll never go wrong following the money!

Members jamesp
Nah. I'm in an assume-the-best-of-people's-motives mode for the holidays. Back on the subject, Michael's post was about what I was going to say had you been asking about "artists." And thinking about it, it might apply to artisans, too. Many musicians and almost all music teachers being union members, for one thing. I'd still want some data before buying into the premise.
