If the neck is straight, the action good, and the sound great, I don't see how you can go wrong. Yeah--agreed--if it's all that, then you have a good old guit that's pretty, and not just good and old. But yes look closely at the neck on any old guit. Although--my main squeeze is a Gibson H-bird. I've played old Japanese copies (Lyle, Suzuki, and I think even an Aria[?]) and there's no comparison. And the newer Epi copies are quite unsatisfactory. Not well-made at all, and dull-sounding.

I once played a Carlos 12 that had been retrofitted with a brass nut. Lovely tone! Not a "fine" guitar but very sweet.

29 all solid and several partially laminated then there's the electrics Holy guacamole. I wish you were my next-door neighbor. As for me: one all-solid (Gibson Hummingbird), four solid top/laminated elsewhere acoustics.

Love letters from a girlfriend..long ago. They resonate nicely. Nice. Love TAH/Tot story too. What a coincidence! My life is less interesting--all I ever drop in there is picks. Happens pretty often. And always, hilarity ensues when I try to shake it out.
