Paulowinia is a fast growing wood from Asia, I believe. It is very light but reasonably strong, and was used in a lot of asian instruments. Nothing wrong with it as a tone wood, but something other than maple needed to be used for the neck. Like, graphite or something.

Either/or: Yamaha AE500/SE500 MF $199 with coupon code 706T.
Here: and Here:

It was 299 not so long ago, people thought it was a good deal when it dropped to 249, and now either one is 199 with the code above.

The info on this stuff is in about ten threads, so I've been trying all evening to decide on which one to get.....

Middle one is a Rogue LX400 Pro bass- the guitar player at my church had one (before it was stolen) and it was a darn fine instrument. I ordered one about a year ago, but it arrived jacked up from the shipping and I found another I liked better.

Those are $179.99, so my fearless prediction for the SDOTD is $149.99.

Here's a great deal on a fretless bass.

Guys, buy this bass.

I don't know a thing about this particular one except to say, at $60 it's practically free (if you can get past the purple). I have an old vantage fretless, such an expressive instrument, suits a lot of styles better than a fretted, not hard to play at all (fretless bass doesn't need the accuracy of fretless guitar as much). Everyone needs a fretless bass in their arsenal. :thu:

$69!!!!! That's downright exorbitant on this thread. The Fullerton's only $60.
