Members StevenJM
No returns other than if damaged during shipping. I'm considering dropping some cash on an explorer but I'm a little nervous. The thing is beautiful (to me) but who knows if it needs any work done. (set up, pickup swap)
Members PrawnHeed
Nothing. I would not buy *anything* online under those terms. There is no need to and I be concerned that the seller doing that has something to hide. I have spent around 2.5k on a guitar online from a decent retailer though. Members Canadian Jeff
$500 is the most I ever spent sight unseen. Turned out really well though, not that I'd do it again.
Members Snowcow
$0.00 I would never buy a guitar without playing it first. Never.
Members billybilly
I'd go to about $1200 but would ensure that if I didn't like it, could flip it easily without a loss. Did I mention flip it easily without a loss?
Members soundcreation
My most is around 1400 or so. Used guitar. I don't base it on cost though. I base it on the brand's reputation for quality and consistency. It's somewhat relative to price with the guitars I like to buy. So in actuality the MORE I would spend, the LESS nervous I would be. Because the guitars I like that are pricey...have impeccable reputations. Literally.
Members GreaserMatt
$925. It was for a gibson les paul 60s tribute goldtop. I got lucky... not sure if I'd do it again...
Members mistersully
so far.. $2600... it's the only guitar i've bought without playing it first edit... i bought the suhr s1 unseen too.... but it cost less that that
Members cratz2
With no return policy? It would either have to be a crazy good deal (as in I could part it out and break even or turn a slight profit) or I wouldn't buy it if there was no return policy. Members BeanoBoy
My wife bought me a Hendrix VooDoo Strat in the $900 range from Musicians Friend about ten years ago. Awesome guitar. Love my wife.
Members kayd_mon
I spent $250 on my import Hamer Duotone. I would spend more, if it was a guitar that I really wanted. I lost quite a few eBay auctions for a Gibson Faded Double Cut LP Special, but I was willing to spend about $500ish for that.
Members Grantus
I don't know if I'd spend anything on a guitar that I couldn't return. I would spend up to $1000 on a guitar I hadn't played but was from a store with a good return policy.
Members tiltsta
I bought a Lp standard online for around 2200, but that came with a 30 day return thing. I think the most I have spent without any return offer was about 1,500 for a used steinberger. Both cases worked out great and the guitars are monster players. Members Marc G
The only electric I've bought online was my American Special Tele which I would on sale for $750.00... I figured it was a tele so I could mod the hell of out of it if I didn't like it... thankfully there was no need to
Members BydoEmpire
I wouldn't put a limit on it because you never know, but it'd be highly unlikely I'd buy a guitar online without any return policy.
Members Jkater
When, for some senseless reasons, I had convinced myself that I wanted a Heritage, I contacted the only real dealer in Germany He had a nice looking H575 in natural finish with Seth Lovers. I phoned him a few times with questions and when I was ready to order it, he said that he didn't want me to order it to try which was very unusual and when I later phoned to order it in spite of that risk, he said it was sold. I was quite pissed. Then I found a Heritage H575 in another store and ordered it with a return policy but I stupidly tried to like the guitar until it was too late to send it back and wasted 2,000 euros in the bargain. Worst money and most money i ever spent on a guitar.
Members americansinner
I've spent $900 sight unseen, but highly don't recommend it. I was looking at something that is pretty rare and had no choice and it was new from the company so subject to replacement with few questions asked. Members Presc
Two of my electrics were special orders, so by nature the individual guitars were sight unseen. Worked out quite well both times. In both cases I was working with K-Line, a small boutique builder, and G&L, which in my experience makes very consistent guitars, so the concern of getting a lemon wasn't there as it might be with certain other brands.
