Members genesis3
I notice some makers seem to use the black paint that I guess has some shielding element to it...would you use it or shielding tape?...I like the paint idea better I think... Enough to do a swimming pool route strat, 2 coats with enough left over to to a tele. Spray a bit of water from a squirt bottle before storage to keep the remaining stuff from drying out on you. Members Flatspotter
Tape for me. If you use tape, make sure the adhesive is conductive.

Members Grant Harding
I can't get the paint shipped here, so I use the copper tape from stewmac and it works great. Have to wear gloves to avoid cutting yourself.
Members Quarter
I've recently switched over to MG Chemical's Super Shield nickel based coating and so far like it quite well. Its $34 a can, but goes a long way.
Members GAS Man
What do you folks suggest for shielding the back of a pickguard? I've heard aluminum foil stuck on with rubber cement is just fine. Do you folks agree? I'm not much into 2nd rate jobs, but if it's just as good as expensive copper tape, then I might just go ahead and do that.
Members wagdog
I have used aluminum foil on pickguards several times. It works GREAT. I used a glue stick, but I'm sure rubber cement would work as well.

I've got some Alu tape, but I have no idea if the adheasive is conductive??? Also got some paint...I was gonna do my Teles, but I just ain't got round to it! I hear shielding affects tone, true??? Or is what you're hearing is the true sound minus the interference??? My Baja sounds amazing, I don't really want to affect that adversely
Members wagdog
fwiw, I shielded my baja tele. The fact that it wasn't shielded from the factory actually bothered me. It sounds better, clearer, imo. Then again, I think all single coil guitars sound better shielded.
