I sold a couple of amps and other gear I wasn't using and bought my first Les Paul - a 2008 LP Traditional, which has only gotten better throughout the year. Couldn't be happier.

I put new pups in my 57 reissue strat and had it refretted w/ Am. Std. fretwire - it went from my least-played guitar to #2 behind the LP.

Crate v18, Mesa lonestar special (my favorite piece of gear), weber mini mass, logic 9 pro, m-audio fast track, outlaw supplies ole fuzzy. I think that's all. No new guitars though :(

sold my Marshall tsl 122. I didn't suck, but it didn't kick ass either.

Not counting the stuff I bought and already sold this year, I got:

Fender Deluxe Lonestar Strat
PRS SE SemiHollow Soapbar
Danelectro Cool Cat Transparent Overdrive
Danelectro Cool Cat Fuzz
Ibanez Wah
Late 80s-early 90s Pearl Exports with some good cymbals
Behringer 2442fx mixer for recording, along with a ton of mics etc.

my Mark1 re-issue (It was in mediocre shape cap-wise, so I got it for my repaired and EL-34'd Triple XXX combo from a fellow maiden-head), fixing it up was worth every cent of $346

Gibson The Paul 2 and I put a SD custom custom in it, nice guitar!

Vox DA-5 (fun for its variety of sounds, and in a pinch, it's an okay preamp for the boogie, since I can't afford a nice pedal yet)

It was the dual lipsticks that did it to me.

i dunno. it's whatever wear Gilmour's guitar has. :idk: That year was all nitro finish, so I guess he wore through it in over 30 years of use. so Fender replicated it

This was a pretty slow year for me:

- BG P-90 pickup.

- LTD EC-50 guitar (for my nephew's birthday)

- Roland Microcube amp (also for my nephew's birthday)

- BBE Free Fuzz

- Warmoth baritone neck

- Bouzouki I found in Athens.

- Parts for an upcoming parts Tele that a friend is building for me.

For 2010, I'm saying good-bye to my Epiphone Dot and I'm looking for a Godin 5th Avenue; haven't decided whether or not it'll be a Kingpin.

Oh,I was under the impression that it was a blem and that $1,800 was taken off the normal price. So,I take it that the back "wear" is by design.

Ya. It's the Custom Shop Gilmour Relic. It's supposed to be there. They just mimic'ed what wear Gilmour has on his. It has the epoxied over XLR rout, the filled in Kahler rout, nitro finishes and black finish over sunburst.

I'm a Gilmour fanboy BTW incase you haven't figured that out ;)

and $1800 was taken off the normal price. These Custom Shop thingies are pricy, but I have an in and got a good deal on it.

Just like buying jeans with holes in them. Just like buying a new car with rust all over it. Juts like buying a guitar that was dragged behind a moving car. It's exactly like those things (getting those things out of the way for the relic haters here) ;):cop::lol::p

For Christmas, I got some guitar cables from my folks. Also, I bought myself an Intellitouch tuner to use for my mandolin and acoustic 12-string in my new (to me) acoustic-oriented side band:

However, basically everything I buy during the course of a year I consider a gift from my wife, so she doesn't have to get anything for me. So everything else over the course of the year is my Christmas present too, in a way

This year, I bought 3 basses (Peavey Fury I, Epi Thunderbird, Peavey T-40), one electric (Retro-H 12-string), one acoustic-electric (Esteban), and an electric-acoustic mandolin.

I also bought a Fender Super Champ XD amp. Like the instruments pctured above, it was bough used at a very reasonable price.

However, I also sold 2 electrics (Retro-H six string, and a P-90 Partscaster), 2 mixers, and have 2 more small amps on consignment. And I returned a mandolin I'd been borrowing from my dad for several years. Been a much busier year than I expected it would.

Happy New Year!

Pics or did not happen! :cop:

But at any rate, thanks for making my excesses look downright reasonable.

It happened...

All were blowouts of one kind or another and probably half of them or more have already been sold, and half of the rest will probably be sold soon...

If I didn't usually turn a small profit on my excesses, I would definitely cut back a lot. :thu:
