  1. I blame the mods. They do nothing when people put up obvious troll threads. For a forum to thrive and be useful, the mods gotta do their thing. They're not. Exactly right. Many of the 'issues' around here could be easily remedied by simply enforcing the forum rules. Apparently, that isn't going to happen...
  2. If your trem floats, it won't work. Make sure the fine tuning screw is adjusted all the way out. I have one and it works flawlessly once properly calibrated. This. I've had them on several guitars and they work fine (as long as you don't have a floating trem) if you set them up correctly.
  3. Why do chambered ones cost less though? Doesnt it take more time and work to hollow out a guitar? Cost less than what? The only models I can think of that are someone similar that come in chambered vs non-chambered bodies are Traditionals (non-chambered) and Standards (chambered), and the Stadards cost a few hundred more...

  5. So it sounds like the floyd it comes with is a FRT-1000, whats up with this? i hear its not really a german-made OFR It is not, and it never was. The earlier US versions also came with the Korean Floyd. LOTS of guitars these days that advertise a 'Floyd Rose', or 'Floyd Rose Original', in the case of Schecter, 'Original Floyd Rose', use the Korean version. Nothing really wrong with the Korean Floyd, but it seems most manufacturers that use it like to lead the consumer to believe the guitar comes with a German Floyd when it really doesn't.
  6. "Dark back" means a dark mahogany stain not painted black. This is opposed to a "light back" natural mahogany finish used on some Gold tops. Go ahead and look up a review on the p90 model. Better yet, find a listing for that guitar on their website if you can. I believe they were clearing out old models with painted backs. It will be interesting to see when it was produced when I get it. Not everything out there is a conspiracy to screw the customer, and all they were clearing out was a model that didn't sell too well at $1999, or later $1399. As has been stated OFTEN, MF descriptions and pictures are wrong WAY more than they should be, and this is another fine example. The white humbucker double cut that was on sale the next day was also not the same as the one pictured at MF. As far as whether these were 'old models' or not, mine arrived yesterday and was stamped 'Made in USA 2011' under the serial number. I've bought at least a couple dozen Les Pauls over the years, and I don't ever think I've given the back of the guitar the slightest amount of thought prior to purchase. Or after purchase for that matter... And if you people are really this upset about getting a 'black back' instead of a 'dark back', you should call MF and complain. Maybe they'll give you another $50-100 off...
  7. Wow. We're really complaining about the BACK of a guitar now? I got mine yesterday and didn't even notice the back was too dark to qualify as dark... And I think most of us should know by now that MF pics/descriptions are not to be trusted...
  8. emailed music123 about the MF SDOTD and got the responce below. I'm on the fence, but the extra $50 would of pushed me on over. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for your email and interest in our products! Unfortunately, we're not able to match prices with another competitor if the price you're inquiring about is a sale, with a coupon or a special promotion. However, contact us directly over the phone and we'll be more than happy to provide you a special price. We apologize for any inconveniences. Translation: "I don't want to be bothered with taking care of this for you" I got $100 of yesterday's deal. They can do it if they want to, I guess the challenge is finding someone that wants to...
  9. Don't forget to try to get M123 to do a price match to make it $899, when they open this morning. Actually music123 has these at $1499, so your price match would only be $50 off. But $949 is still better than $999.
  10. better resale I would think as well. Maybe, maybe not. From what I've seen, Gibson double cuts don't have the greatest resale value (at least not compared to more 'traditional' Gibson models).
  11. I didn't get any message on the webpage that my price match request had been sent, it just faded away. Likewise no email confirmation that it had been submitted, is that the way it works at M123 now? I wondered the same thing. Last week I sent them a few requests for the LP Jr Specials and Studio Pro Faded and the first request just disappeared with no confirmation that it was sent, so I sent a second request, and that one displayed the confirmation. Today when I tried it, the first request just sat there and didn't go away, so I closed it and sent a second request, and that one just disappeared with no confirmation no matter how many times I tried it. I honestly don't know if any of them got sent or not. Their online price match request system has been a mess for almost a year now, you'd think they'd do something to fix it....
  12. "45 Day 110% Low Price Guarantee We guarantee the lowest price - not only when you buy, but for 45 days after your purchase as well. If you find the identical item, in stock and advertised for less at any authorized U.S. dealer (auction web sites excluded), we will refund you 100% of the difference, as well as an additonal 10% of that difference. This guarantee does not apply to discontinued, special order, blemished, damaged, closeout, open box, Factory Restock item or auction items." They may try to weasel out of it, but the SDotD doesn't fit any of their "stated" exclusions. I'm pretty sure SDotD would get filed under 'closeout' for the purpose of their exclusions. But like I said, it is certainly worth a try. I sent my request earlier this morning...
  13. Jetson, Try the M123 110% price match. They have it for $1999.00. That is worth a shot, but Stupid Deal of the Day type deals are supposed to be excluded form their price match policy.
  14. Good deal on that double cut. I had just sent a price match request to m123 the other day for $1339 and was still debating whether to pull the trigger or not. At $999 it is a no-brainer...
  15. Woody's slicker than that! There was a 15% off sale a few days ago. $679 was the bargain price. (and I'm glad to see it looks so good- my alpine white arrives tomorrow) I was going to do that myself, but I read about it a day too late and they wouldn't give me the deal... Do these come with the Ebony fingerboard on all finishes? The MF says it does, but they are wrong as often as they are right, and Gibson has been known to use Ebony on their White guitars and Rosewood on other colors. And the pictures I've seen of the Yellow and Red look like Rosewood to me.
  16. Overall I think it is still a great bargain at $800 at MF. Better bargain at music123.com with 110% price match = $749 And if you email or call MF, I'm sure they'd give you the $50 adjustment if you paid $799.
  17. 'save10' is a $10 off coupon, not 10%. And no, they should not price match the coupon on top of the price difference. But it never hurts to try...
  18. Picked up the Gibson LP Special Exclusive model with HSC in Alpine White from MF for $679 calling in using the VIP coupon. This guitar was selling for $!299 last week! http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/gibson-les-paul-special-single-cutaway If that worked, it will probably also work on the Les Paul Studio Pro Faded (Cherry only) that has been marked down from $999 to $699. With the coupon it would be $599, which isn't bad... http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/gibson-les-paul-studio-pro-faded-electric-guitar
  19. "Thank you for your recent inquiry. Unfortunately, because Amazon is not an authorized dealer for the Randall amps we cannot honor a price match at this time. If you do locate it at a lower price from an authorized dealer, we would be more than happy to match that price." So much for "We'll beat any price" The details of 'any price': "110% Low Price Guarantee We guarantee the lowest price - not only when you buy, but for 45 days after your purchase as well. If you find the identical item, in stock and advertised for less at any authorized U.S. dealer (auction web sites excluded), we will refund you 100% of the difference, as well as an additonal 10% of that difference. This guarantee does not apply to discontinued, special order, blemished, damaged, closeout, open box, Factory Restock item or auction items." It can be pretty hit and miss. I've had one person say 'no', then tried again and got the 110% price match on the same item. Lately they've been better (aside from adding shipping to the online quotes).
  20. They pick and choose what they want to honor it on. I'm sure I'll buy stuff from them in the future if the price is right but they aren't my first choice. They keep adding shipping to their quotes in some cases made their price match higher than the original. That and the addition of sales tax is a big turn off. I had my first big purchase for zZounds this week and it went great. They beat M123's price match and they didn't try to stick me w/ shipping or sales tax. They also offer a 4 payment plan with zero interest ($6 fee). I haven't had any trouble (lately) getting them to do the 110% on anything, but you're right about the shipping. I sent a request for the LP Special and Faded Studio Pro earlier this week and had to have them remove the shipping on both. As far as financing goes, if I'm going to finance something, it will be at 6 or 12 months with no interest or fees. I stopped shopping at AMS and zzounds for anything I want to finance because they started charging fees for their payment plans. Although in your case, I'm sure the $6 is better than paying sales tax...
  21. Ok, can you guys believe this? sasjf get your calculator warmed up. Unless I'm missing something, that's the same as it has always been since they dropped the 123% guarantee.
  22. I thought the eBay flippers would be all over this, guess not... Don't see a lot of flipper potential in this one, or I would have at least grabbed one to sell down the road. I'm guessing you'd be lucky to get $750-800 out of one on eBay, and after fees you'd be losing money (or making so little it wouldn't be worth your while).
  23. Can't believe it's 8:37 pm EDT and the RD's haven't sold out yet...the economy must really be hurting...back in the old days, those would have been gone in no time. Tempted to buy one, but I don't like black and would prefer trapezoid inlays to dots. I think it has more to do with it being a pretty ugly guitar that was never particularly popular in the first place. I seldom, if ever, pass up a deal this good on a new Gibson, but this one doesn't tempt me in the slightest.
  24. music123.com has the Les Paul Special at $1299, so you should be able to get another $50 off with their 10% price match. They also have the Studio Pro still listed at $999, which should be good for another $30 off with 10% price match. And if you try to get the price match by email, it looks like they're back to trying to sneak in the Shipping Charges on online price matches, so you'll likely have to call or email to get that removed...
  25. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/gibson-les-paul-studio-pro-faded-electric-guitar Only the cherry is discounted, brown is normally priced at $899, good $200 worth of savings. Hope to see some NLPD threads soon! music123.com has the Les Paul Special at $1299, so you should be able to get another $50 off with their 10% price match. They also have the Studio Pro still listed at $999, which should be good for another $30 off with 10% price match.
