Hey there, Im a regular at the Electric Guitar forum but am working on becoming a songwriter. The guys over in HCEG are more concerned with arguing over different fingerboard woods and the merits of cheap guitars versus expensive ones, so I thought I would come here for some advice! Specifically singing advice, but if this belongs in the songwriting forum I apologise in advance. Okay, so long story short I am working on writing some songs so I can start my own band. I am a terrible singer. I cant stress this enough. Every time I hear a recording of myself I all but vow to never sing again... However, I cant rely on other people to write my songs for me, and I am still a one man band right now so you know what they say about what to do when you want something done properly.... Songwriting is a very new thing for me. Ive spent a very long time nailing down what sound/tone/gear/etc I want from my guitars and am pretty happy with that. Now Im finding it hard to put a voice to go with that. I am currently looking for a female singer for my "project", but am having no luck so far. Someone along the lines of Paramore and/or Blood Red Shoes. Now I cant sing at all, let alone sing like a girl. Whenever I try to sing it just sounds nasally and...bad... Interestingly, I have a relatively deep voice and feel more comfortable "singing" in a lower key. I think that something along the lines of Metallicas "Hero of the Day" is more within my range and the least offensive for me to sing. Yes, it's taught me that anything that isn't Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, or fake-ass white middle-class "blues" is worthy of nothing but scorn and ridicule, that all the good music was either made in the 1960s or early 1970s or made by artists that never grew out of that era, and that the desire to listen to something more interesting or relevant is a malady that can only be cured by buying more expensive guitars. Haha, very true. This forums does seem to be dominated by old guys who are very set in their way and who seem to think that any music that isnt more than 30 years old is automatically crap. Lol I do, I love my semi-hollow. I brought up this question because I really want a Zakk Wylde Gibson Les Paul but they go for around $3500 used, if I can find a used one. Gibson has a chambered version of the ZW Les Paul that I can get for around $1500, but I dont know much about chambered LP's. I'd still like the standard Zakk Wylde LP, but for $3500 oh man, that probably wont happen haha. Cheaper ZW? Are you talking about the BFG models? Just a word of warning - they have a maple neck so they can be neck heavy! Well the ones I played were anyway... May I suggest you get a white Edwards LP custom and get the bullseye decal painted on it?

Love em, big fat resonant tone, acoustically loud, not heavy as {censored} like some other LPs, I think a lot of hate for them stems from the fact that people dont see it as "traditional" enough

When someone else mis interprets I'll usually rephrase and clear things up right away. I have noticed around HC in general, people will read what they want to read and the rest goes out their butt!
